facts on Zirconium
The word zirconium derives from the Persian zargun, meaning gold-like. Zircon, the primary gemstone mineral of zirconium, is also known as jargon, hyacinth, jacinth and ligure.
Zirconium
Zirconium is a transition metal with a grayish-white luster. The solid metal is difficult to ignite, but when it is finely divided it may ignite spontaneously in air, especially at high temperatures. Its compounds have a low inherent toxicity. Natural zirconium contains five isotopes and fifteen others are known to exist.

What is Zirconium.......
what is zirconium?
Zirconium is a chemical element with symbol Zr and atomic number 40. The name of zirconium is taken from the name of the mineral zircon, the most important source of zirconium.Zirconium is mainly used as a refractory and opacifier, although it is used in small amounts as an alloying agent for its strong resistance to corrosion. Zirconium forms a variety of inorganic and organometallic compounds such as zirconium dioxide and zirconocene dichloride, respectively. Five isotopes occur naturally, three of which are stable. Zirconium compounds have no known biological role.
