Procedures & Routines Are KEY
First Day Procedures and Rotations (September 3, 2019)
8:00 a.m. Staff must report to the designated area:
While waiting for buses please assist with parents and students outside. Parents will be allowed to escort students to their designated areas. There they will hug and go. This is located in the front hall. Parents should not pass the cafeteria. A sign will be visible.
Students must enter the building through the front door only. They should not come in through any other door.
Miller, Rapal, Batishill- Outside by gym driveway to help students get out of cars. (Please tell students to walk along the wall into the front door. They must stay to the left) Once they reach the entrance someone will assist them with getting into the multipurpose room or cafeteria to wait for the classroom teacher.
Towns, Amer, Anderson, Frankowiak, Englehart: Report to buses. To assist Susie Lederman
All Grade 3 will report to the cafeteria at 8:05:
Belcourt
South Wall- Use the front hallway to escort students to class
Farrington
South Wall- Use the front hallway to escort students to class
Thomas-Pearsall
North Wall- Use middle of building hallway to escort students to class
VanNostrand
South Wall- Use the front hallway to escort students to class
Wilson
North Wall- Use middle of building hallway to escort students to class
Grade 4 students will report directly to their classrooms:

Grade 5 students will report directly to their classrooms:
Cowell Dershem
Moss Strutton
*Please be at your door ready to receive students at 8:05 am
ASD and CI Classrooms
Core, Henniken
Richardson Polhamus and program paras-- meeting and greeting students at their buses
Kathryn Colpean- Will be working in iCenter: Assisting parents without teacher placements
Any unassigned staff is expected to be in their assigned areas assisting students in the hall.
● Staff assisting in the hall must ask students for their teacher’s name and point them in the right direction.
● Please inform parents they may walk their student to the door of their designated location hug and go. They are not allowed to walk students to class.
● Students without class assignments should be directed to the iCenter for assistance.
● If parents want to register, they must come back after 9:00 a.m. or the next day.
The front office will be closed during the morning arrival however Judy will be there to assist with directing parents to designated areas.
First Day Rotations
Rotation Assignments-Facilitators:
Discussion for each rotation: Travel teachers will escort grade levels to the cafeteria for the first rotation. They will return to the cafeteria at the scheduled time to procced with Rotations 1 and 2, times are listed under each rotation. Transportation Information- Susie will facilitate this session. Checking to make sure students know their end of the day routines and bus expectations. Amer and Acton Outside/Recess/Gym - Cafeteria/Recess/Gym expectations- Rapal/Miller in the gym Facilitating
Lunch/Recess
Dismissal Procedure Week One and Two of School: All hands on deck.
3:00 Pass any additional information or items that need to go home with students. Have students pack up for the end of the day. If students are in special area classes. Special Area teachers will dismiss their students. The classroom teacher will report to the designated end of the day locations to assist with dismissal.
3:12 Dismissal Process will begin. Classes are not to leave or release any students prior to announcements.
Students are to be lined up in the following order:
Wave one bus students (these students proceed directly to buses)
Teachers may then escort the remaining students to the cafeteria. The following classes should use the front hall to exit with their students
Dershem
Farrington
Maurer
Cowell
VanNostrand
Strutton
Moss
Car pick up- (walk up the gym hall, walk through the gym and line up against the outside wall)
Kids/Klub- (walk down the little green hallway)
Walkers- (exit the front doors with bus students and walk along the sidewalk)
Wave two bus students- ( seated in the cafeteria by bus)
At no point should a class be left unsupervised by the classroom teacher.
End of Day: The following staff must report to designated areas:
● Anderson, Englehart, Frankowiak, Miller- Week One of school-at 3:00 gym driveway to help with traffic control and to get kids safely to cars. And through the pick-up line at 3:00 to pass out and write student’s name on the tagboard and give to parents with a letter instructing them to hold the sign up when they pick up their children. (Students riding in cars will have their sign with name in hand)
Now that we have a working PA system that can be heard inside and outside the building. We need teachers and staff to make sure to follow the directions made over the PA. :
End of Day Line Up:
Car-Riders- Walkers- Kids Klub
Line bus students up by bus #
Special Ed Buses: 78,79,80
4 * Shuttle for Students who attend Sheiko and transported to Doherty
14* Shuttle to High School
15* Shuttle for students who attend Doherty and are transported to Sheiko
- Bus signs will be posted in the cafeteria and front hall (because we do not have bus waves just yet).
-A teacher and available support will be assigned to a bus to ensure students are in the correct line. The teacher/adult support will escort students to the assigned buses
-Then return to the cafeteria to assist. (all hands will be needed)
TEACHERS, please collect after-school arrangements notes, hand them to the adult escorting your students during the rotations.
