Principal Talk
King Families and Community,
We have kicked off another successful school year at King Elementary. The King staff and I are excited to work with you and your students as they learn and grow. We were thrilled to join PTA this year to combine the PTA Barbecue and Open House. Thanks to all of you who joined us for this fun evening. At King, we are proud of our caring family atmosphere and strong academic program. We appreciate all you do to support our King Kids!
The beginning of the school year serves as an opportunity for teachers to set the tone for the learning culture in the classroom, and in the building. One tool we use school wide is the Social Contract. The Social Contract serves as the foundation for students owning and regulating their learning environment. Ask your student about how they "check" each other and hold each other accountable for the Social Contract. Another tool we use is the greeting. All King Staff Members greet students every morning when they arrive to help set the tone for the day.
Finally, if you are looking to be more involved at King, there are several opportunities. We invite you to be a member of our awesome PTA at King. They do an amazing job of fundraising for the school, providing community events and supporting programs within the school. Be sure to look for monthly PTA activities to join. We would also love to have you join us at the monthly PTA meetings held in the mini gym at 6:00. The next meeting will be October 7th. SAC (School Accountability Committee) is also a great way to get involved. SAC is a behind the scenes look at King from looking at our budget, to test scores and how we set yearly goals. Feel free to join us at our next meeting on October 7th at 5:00 in the library (We always have chocolate at the meeting.J)
Thanks again for your partnership.
Sincerely,
Treg Joslyn
