The History of the Fibonacci Sequence
Leonardo Pisano, also known by his nickname, Fibonacci, was the discoverer of the Fibonacci Sequence around 1200 A.D. He published a book called Liber abachi, and it was in the book, that the Fibonacci Sequence was first discussed. It was based on Arithmetic and Algebra that Fibonacci accumulated during his travels.
The Fibonacci Sequence is a sequence in which each term is the sum of the two numbers preceding it.

Connection With Other Math
Pascal's Triangle
The Fibonacci is also used in Pascal's Triangle. When adding the diagonal rows, the sum is a Fibonacci number. If starting from the top, the sequence is in order.
The Golden Spiral (The Fibonacci Spiral)
The Golden Spiral is similar to the Fibonacci Spiral, but is based on proportioned rectangles of 1.618. The Fibonacci Spiral gets closer to a Golden Spiral as it gets bigger because the ratio gets closer to phi, which is also known as the Golden Number.
