R FACTOR DISCIPLINE #2: GET YOUR MIND RIGHT
OCTOBER FOCUS: #2 Get Your Mind Right
- Pay attention to your inner Response.
- Get into a productive mindset by taking ownership of what you focus on and how you talk to yourself.
- The quality of your inner work determines the quality of your outer work.
- Your mindset is the primary factor that determines what you do and how well you do it.
This month we are focusing on getting our minds right. This is where we will use the above the line/below the line language. We are learning how to make a choice with intention. We are learning our actions and words are choices.
Assignment: Write down one goal that you want to accomplish this year.
IMPORTANT HEALTH SCREENING AVAILABLE
Dear Parents,
We wanted to make our community aware of an excellent opportunity that’s been made available to all our students and athletes ages 12 - 22 at Fairview High School. We are partnering with mCORE™ — Mobile Cardiac Overview and Risk Evaluation — to screen our students/athletes for the cardiac conditions and abnormalities which may put them at risk of Sudden Cardiac Death (SCA). SCA Is The #1 Killer of Young Athletes.
SCA is the result of unsuspecting cardiological disease or abnormalities which cause the heart to stop without warning or symptoms. We hear about several student-athletes each year that are lost to this devastating tragedy, many of which could have been prevented with a simple examination like this.
Please see the Details on the Screening Date and Time Below:
Date: Tuesday December 5, 2017
Time: 8:00am - 4:00 pm
Location: Training Room
Cost: $75
The time requirement is approximately 10-12 minutes per student or athlete. Each student will be given an EKG and Echo screening and these tests typically cost more than $2000 in a clinical setting. The screening age range is 12-22 years old. You may use your Healthcare Spending Account or Flex Care Spending Account. All screenings are performed by a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer and results are read by the mCORE Medical Director Dr. Kenneth Berkovitz, MD. Board Certified in Cardiovasucular Disease, Interventional Cardiology and Internal Medicine.(Please contact mCORE should financial hardship preclude you from taking part)
STUDENTS MUST PRE-REGISTER ONLINE FOR THE SCREENING BY USING LINK OR

DUCT TAPE CHALLENGE!
Students had the opportunity to have a teacher or staff member duct taped to a wall and, at the same time, help those who were recently affected by the devastating hurricanes. Students brought their money to school and placed it in the container of the adult they most wanted to see duct taped to the wall. The adult with the most money collected in their container for the week was the one duct taped to the wall on Friday, October 13th. On this day for just a dollar, students could purchase a four foot long strip of duct tape to help fasten the adult to the wall. Also if a student purchased a strip of tape, he/she had their name put into a drawing to be the one chosen to put a pie tin of whip cream in the adult’s face. Mr. Brickner was the lucky winner!
The students raised over $500! All the proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross and go to hurricane relief.
