Signs of Readiness

-Asks to use the potty

Paternal Reasons

-Begin at age 18-24 months

-Don't force the child to begin potty training

Optimal Time to Potty Train

-Do not force the child

-Make sure they are ready

Muscle Control

-A child needs to know when they need to go and when they just want to go.

Self-Dressing

- The child is able to pull down their underwear/ pants when they go to the potty and be able to pull them back up by themselves.

Encouragement

-The parent has to be able to motive the child to use the potty when they are learning how to go.

What Comes First?

- The child learning how to use the potty to go pee should come first.
