Message to families
It is with great honor that I pay tribute to the bravery of all U.S. Veterans. As the daughter of a war veteran, my father, Claudio Funes who served in the Vietnam War, I understand the sacrifice of former service members. A brief history behind Veteran’s Day is that on September 20, 1975, President Gerald R. Ford signed a law which reinstated observance of Veterans Day to its original date of Nov. 11, beginning in 1978. Legislation declared November 11th as a day to honor American veterans of all wars.

What are positive affirmations? Positive affirmations are positive words that encourage positive thoughts, increase happiness, and boost self-esteem.
As important as it is for parents to encourage, love and support their children, it is just as important that children learn to create happy emotions within themselves by having a positive outlook. This can be done with positive affirmations. Some positive affirmations that you can teach your child are:
I am wonderful just the way I am.
I am enough.
It’s okay to make mistakes.
I am brave enough to try new things.
I am a beautiful person inside and out.
Please consider and teach your child that affirmations are more effective when repeated. It’s best to repeat self-affirming words 3 times, saying the words louder and with more confidence each time.
How can you implement this with your child? Positive affirmations can easily be incorporated in your child’s daily routine. Sit down with your child and make a list of their qualities to help boost their confidence. They can be incorporated in the following ways:
Teach your child to say one positive affirmation to themselves in the mirror every morning.
Place positive affirmations around the house for your child to read.
Lead by example-say positive affirmations together.

Coming Soon: Campus Supervisor
We are happy to announce we are moving forward with hiring a campus supervisor. A few of the responsibilities will include patroling and monitoring the campus and adjacent areas, including: lunch areas, hallways, walkways, classrooms, playgrounds, restrooms and parking lots, etc.; maintain order and safety of campus; defusing potentially volatile situations; know and identify harassment and bullying issues and intervene to assist in resolving. To easily identify the campus supervisor, they will wear a prescribed uniform. The goal of adding the campus supervisor will help to increase the safety on our campus for our students.
