Message From the Principal
Happy Friday Titans!
May is one of those months we all wish had both simultaneously more and fewer days! We still have testing for the 6th and 7th grades and some of the best and most exciting events of the year, i.e., BOTT. Parents, teacher, and students let's keep up the momentum. It's going to be an exciting ride to the finish!
Fulton County Schools is asking for all families, teachers, and staff to take their survey on the 2022 Strategic Plan. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey to provide input on Elkins Pointe Middle School. The survey window closes on May 17, 2019, but I would be extremely grateful for all Titan families and staff to take the survey today. The link will be available on the Elkins Pointe website, on social media and will run in Titan Talk. Please use the link below:

Georgia Milestones testing for the 6th grade and the 7th grade begins on Monday, May 6th. Please make sure that your child's laptop is ready on Monday. Have your child fully charge the computer over the weekend. Please make sure that your child gets a good night's sleep, has a nourishing breakfast, and is on time for school. These simple things will ensure that your child is ready to do their best on the test!
End of Course Tests (EOCT) finished up on this past Wednesday. Results for the EOCTs will be available in approximately 7-10 days. A big thank you to Mrs. Toner, Mr. Hardigree, and Dr. Paperno for administering the high school tests. If you have an 8th grader in the high school offerings, your child's teachers will be letting you know when the results arrive. Mrs. Toner, Mr. Hardigree, and Dr. Paperno will be able to answer any questions and provide guidance. Please give them a little bit of time to get the results back and communicate them to you and your child.
Our 8th graders have much to celebrate coming up next Friday on May 10th. Our PTSA will be hosting the 8th Grade Dance, "A Night in Paris." I want to encourage all 8th grade students to come and enjoy the festivities. For those of you who have not experienced this with an older child, this event is one to behold. The PTSA does a magnificent job of transforming the cafeteria, and atrium into Paris. Tickets are on sale now, and if you act quickly, you will be able to purchase at the early bird price. If your family needs a financial scholarship, please contact our Guidance Counselor, Mr. WIll Jones. The PTSA is offering need-based scholarships on a limited basis. Please encourage your 8th grade child to come to celebrate and enjoy an enchanted evening with their friends and teachers.
As the weather heats up, the dress code tends to be forgotten. Short shorts (i.e., athletic-fit running shorts), tank/cami tops, and exposed midriffs are all against the dress code. Please click here to review the dress code. Please know, the dress code is fully enforced through the last day of school. To save yourself a trip up to the school with a change of clothing, please take a moment to read the rules with your child.
Safe travels to our Band and Orchestra as they visit Florida and Tennessee. Thank you to Mr. Wilson, Mrs. Burkhardt, Mr. Gamba, and the adult chaperones! Have fun, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Online Health & PE Course Info for Rising 9th-Grade Students
Clearing up some confusion on the "Online" Health & PE Courses Info for Rising 9th-Grade Students:
To register your child for a summer online course at the high school level, please contact Mr. WIll Jones at jonesw3@fultonschools.org.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- * To register your rising 9th-grader for an online summer course, you MUST contact your middle school guidance counselor for the class to count towards high school credit. If your child registers prior to their promotion from middle school, the counselor needs to APPROVE the summer course.
- ** Health must be taken in order for a student to get their drivers license, but not to get a permit. Students must present proof of high school attendance to the DMV to get their permit. To get their license, students must complete Health course which includes all DVM requirements. NOTE: Please research the Georgia Driver License Requirements to make sure your child's online Health class meets all the requirements.
- *** PE & HEALTH MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN THE FOUR YEARS OF HIGH SCHOOL. They are high school graduation requirements.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
- The high school Health & PE courses may be taken any semester as a .5 semester class or online during the summer. These .5 credit classes must be taken prior to graduation.
- Health is a requirement to get a Georgia Drivers License.
- Parents are responsible for the payment of online summer courses.
- Health and PE courses which are taken at the high school during the school year are free of charge.

WINTER COTILLION IS COMING...IN JANUARY 2020!
Save the date!! The Bridges/North Atlanta Cotillion is coming January 2020!\
We are excited to start our classes on Sunday, January 5 at The Country Club of Roswell! Come have fun with us while learning dance and etiquette! Registration will open November 1.
This is not your grandmother’s cotillion! The Seventh Graders will learn basic ballroom dancing and popular dance (Shag, Swing, Free Style, Line, and Slow), as well as many important social and professional skills the students will need to know now and throughout their lives. The Seventh Grade class will culminate in a Parents Showcase displaying the Program as parents observe all their child has learned. Students will also enjoy a 50's Party filled with games, contests, dancing, and pizza!
For Eighth Graders, the classes will review the basics taught in year one, and the students will learn many new dances including Latin, Swing, and Hustle. An extensive Table Manners segment will further develop your child’s social graces. Dating, interviews and making conversation will also be covered. The Eighth Grade Program will culminate in a Dinner Dance that brings all of the students’ new skills into practice. New students are always welcome in 8th grade.
You can expect your child to gain confidence in our classes, and learn how to greet, shake hands and converse with adults—an all-important skill as the dating years approach. They will also discuss social media etiquette! But most of all, your teen will have fun!
For more information, please contact:
