From frogs to flowers, the Learning Community got it done this week! Special thanks to Coach Anthony Bell for inviting the LC to share an awesome experience! Students got dissect and understand the anatomy of frogs! Afterwards, the LC decorated flower pots for Mother's Day!

Physical Night

Physical Night will be held Monday, May 9th starting at 5:15 PM. Cost is $10.00 per athlete. Please fill out physical packets ahead of time. Packets can be picked up from each head coach or downloaded on the HGHS athletic homepage. All pages need to be printed and signed. There will be notaries on site during physical night to help complete packets.

Cross Country

Anyone interested in running on the high school cross country team needs to attend a mandatory player and parent meeting on May 9th at 4:15 PM. The meeting will be held in Coach Brock's room N115 at the high school. Physical Night will immediately follow in which all players are expected to attend unless they have a current physical which extends through 12/1/2016. This week we have several testing dates for ACT and AP courses. Please check the schedule and be sure to bring a #2 pencil and photo id.

Bowling Interest Meeting

There will be a meeting for anyone interested in being on the Bowling Team next year in Coach Williams' room on Tuesday, May 10th after school.

Last Priority Meeting

The last First Priority meeting of the year will be Tuesday, May 10th at 8:00 AM in the black box theater.

Senior Breakfast

Time is closing in for the Senior Breakfast Celebration on May 13th. Please look at the list below to see where we still needing items donated. Please contact Mrs. Brady or Traci Chrisco for details. Thank you so much for your help making this day special.

Baseball: Upcoming 9th Graders

Upcoming 9th-grade players interested in becoming a part of the Hazel Green Baseball Program need to come out to the HG Baseball Field May 10th-12th from 4:00PM - 6:00 PM. You will need to have an updated physical. You will need to get your physical at the high school on May 9th. Starting at 5:00 PM. Hazel Green Baseball would like to thank you in advance for your support. We look forward to working with your son and helping guide him through his development as a young man and baseball player. Trojan Miss Pageant is This Week!

The Annual Trojan Miss Pageant will be Saturday, May 14th at Hazel Green High School. Little and Junior Trojan Miss- ages Newborn-8th grade will start at 10:00 AM with the Trojan Miss Pageant (grades 9-12) starting at 7:00 PM. All 9-12 grade contestants must attend Hazel Green High School. Entry Fee is $40 before May 14th, and $45 if registering the day of. Click the link to register and pay online. We know the calendar says we have a Weather Day, but we already used it! May 16th is a full day of school!

WOMEN IN ENGINEERING SUMMER CAMP 2016

It's still not too late to register! If you still have not finalized your summer plans, the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering invites you to be a part of our Women in Engineering Camp this June!! This camp is a girls-only residential camp that will focus on issues important to women in the field of engineering. Sessions will be led by women engineering organizations, faculty members and current Auburn engineering students.


  • Sunday, June 26 - Friday, July 1
  • For rising 9th - 12th graders for Fall 2016
  • Minimum


    GPA of 3.0
  • Cost: $650 - Includes lodging, meals, t-shirt and group picture


Applications for this Summer Camp can be completed online at the link below. Students must submit a resume and high school transcript along with their application. Disregard the March 25 application due date. We are still accepting applications!

Medication

Parents/Guardians, the end of the school year is May 24, 2016. No medication, with the exception of asthma inhalers, Epi-pens and diabetic supplies will be given to students to transport home. Parents/Guardians will need to come to the school to sign out these medications. All medications not retrieved by May 25th will be destroyed in accordance with Alabama School Health Service’s Administrative Medication Policy. Please plan now. Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form into Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.


Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend
- Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.

1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of the school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.

2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.

3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.

First Priority/FCS
meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00 in the Black Box Theatre. All students are welcome to attend.

PAL is a service where anyone can call a toll free number 1-866-962-3030 and receive useful, practical information and assistance with developmental and parenting questions and concerns. Available 8:00am – 8:00pm (central time) Monday – Friday.


Recycle:
Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.


Reward Cards:
Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit:
Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.

(Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you purchase a Prescription/Gift/OTC have them swipe your tag. HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a loyalty key tag, just stop by the main office to pick one up.
