Notes from Mr. Hilton
Hello All:
What a wonderful first two weeks. The kids have been amazing and we truly love that you choose to share them with us.
It was great seeing everyone Wednesday night at our Parent Information Night. If you were unable to make it please reach out to your child’s teacher and they can fill you in on what was covered. Please feel free to let us know if you have further questions as the year goes along. Emails are a good method of contact but do not hesitate to call any of us either. I know we can build the best program for your child with your input and help.
Please remember that a SafeVisitor background check will be required for anyone who visits our schools, including family members of our students. Examples of activities in the schools where visitors will need a completed SafeVisitor background check are:
Lunch Guests
Classroom Parties
Classroom Volunteers/Helpers/Room Parents
Field Trip Chaperones
Any time you plan to go past the office
You will be able to get your background check at https://secure.safevisitorsolutions.com/Safe/Volunteer/003471/volunteer. We are going to start having lunch guest next week, but please remember that all guest need to have a background check through SafeVisitor before you will be allowed into the cafeteria.
Have a great weekend,
Andy

WWS ATTENDANCE GUIDELINES
Now that we are off and running for the 2017-2018 school year, we hope your child has a great school year. In order to assist your child's teacher in maximizing their learning opportunities, we can work together in making sure each child is punctual for attendance.
Listed below are just a few reminders in regards to our district attendance policy:
1. Students are considered tardy when entering the building after the 2nd bell; 9:10 a.m. in the elementary schools.
2. Students are considered to be dismissed early if they leave before the last bell of the day; 3:42 p.m. in the elementary schools.
Please consult your CRES Parent Handbook for additional information.
ABSENCES: Parents are required to notify the school office when a student is absent. Please phone the attendance line, 867-6201, by 10:30 am on the day of the absence. Follow the instructions given on the recording. Failure to inform the school will result in the child's absence being counted as unexcused. It would also be helpful to let us know if your child will be coming in late. Parents will be contacted if a student is not present at school and we have not received a phone call regarding an absence or late arrival.
School Pictures
School pictures will be taken on Thursday, September 27. All students will be photographed for the yearbook. Flyers with package information, prices and a payment envelope will be sent home with students the week prior. You will have the option to place an on-line order also.
Take Your Parent to PE
Save the dates. The second annual "Take Your Parent to PE" week is scheduled for September 24 - 28. The program, sponsored by Active Schools invites parents to join their child in class, break a sweat, and celebrate the importance of physical education. Involved parents can help their children develop active lifestyles and make physical activity a part of family life. Make sure your safe visitor background check is complete.
Student Accident Insurance
If you need information on student accident insurance while at school, please pick up a flier in the office or follow this link http://www.studentinsurance-kk.com/
Bike riders, walkers and golf cart riders
If your students are walking, riding bikes or being dropped off/pick up on a golf cart, please be sure to send a note daily or a general note to be kept in the office stating they are allow to do any of the above. In the morning students will enter the building using door #12. A staff member will meet the students there at 9:00 until 9:10. If they arrive after 9:10, they will need to come around to the main office. Please remind your student they will need to go to the end of the 3rd grade hallway and check out with staff before leaving at the end of day. All students will be released out door #12. Please meet your child at door #12 at the end of the day
Boy Scouts
Join Cub Scouts! Boys and Girls, in grades K-5, are invited on Thursday, August 23rd from 6:30p-8:00p to join Cub Scouts here at school. Cub Scouts is one of the largest programs in our school. Your son or daughter will experience fun and adventure, while providing them a foundation they can stand on to embrace opportunity, overcome obstacles and make new discoveries. Through leadership skills and character development, your son or daughter will take what they learn in the classroom and bring it to life in Cub Scouts. What makes Cub Scouting truly unique is the opportunity it gives your entire family to be involved in your child’s development. Come join your son’s or daughter’s friends in Cub Scouts!
