Cordata Elementary School

May 2020

Hello, Cordata Families!

Welcome to May! As we begin our second full month of remote learning, I would like to say thank you for all that you’re doing to support your student’s education! We miss our Bobcats here at Cordata, and we are working as a team to ensure the best possible experience for our students while they are away. Our families are a big part of our success, so thank you for serving as an important liaison during this time.

As we head into May, we are thinking about next school year and looking forward to being together again! If you or someone you know has a child who will begin Kindergarten during the 2020-2021 school year, please check out the information included in this newsletter about online Kindergarten enrollment and our virtual Kindergarten Open House! We are excited to welcome your Kindergartner to Cordata!

Please remember that we have meal and laptop distribution each Monday between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM; it’s a great opportunity to stop by the school! We would love to see you, from six feet away!

Be well and know that we are thinking of you! Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Online Registration for Kindergarten and students NEW to Cordata for 2020-2021

Spread the word!
Families can now register online for kindergarten in Bellingham Public Schools starting, May 5. All new students and families can also register online. If you have an incoming Kindergarten student or know of a family who has moved into the area, please use this information to enroll students. Use the Register Here tab below to begin registration or select How to Register Online for a tutorial.

Kindergarten registration began in March just prior to our closure due to COVID-19. Our closure means families are unable to register in-person at neighborhood schools, and we encourage all families and students to use our new online registration tool via Skyward Family Access. If you’ve already turned in a paper copy of the registration packet to your neighborhood school, there is no need to complete an additional online version.

Kindergarten open houses will be virtual this spring via video, Zoom or other digital platforms. We ask kindergarten families to please register before noon May 29 to receive information from elementary school principals about open houses. Virtual open houses will posted to elementary websites and sent to new kindergarten families by June 3.

During the COVID-19 crisis, thanks to the support of the scholarship fund and other generous investors, we are able to offer free virtual parent coaching to keep our children safe; something so very important during a time when stress levels are high and reports of suspicions of child abuse have declined.

We are beginning the 2nd year of our Parenting Academy and have been able to modify our evidenced based parent coaching and seminars to meet the new demands of virtual communication.

We invite you to share this information with your colleagues, parents, or anyone in need of parenting support. If you have any questions about the Parenting Academy, our programs or seminars please feel free to contact us .
