Hey Tot Spot Family,
We love Snow!! So on days that we are in the clear to go outside, we will be out for at least 5-10 minutes. Please make sure to bring in hats, gloves, coats, and boots if you have them. Also make sure there is always a backup outfit in case we make snow angels or get our clothes too wet. Thank you :)

In the Classroom!
The Smalls
- We will miss Ms. Emily.
- Looking forward to sharing new beginnings with Ms. Danielle in the classroom until Mr. Mike and Ms. Alisha find an awesome teacher to work with Ms. Stacey
- So many of our little ones are on the move. With the walkers, moving on to bigger and more adventures, we will be gaining new students. Remember, this is a big transition not only for the newcomers, but also for the present babies. Adjusting can be smooth and easy, or there could be bumps in the road. Remember the staff is prepared for concerns you may have. Please feel comfortable addressing these with any of us.
The Junior Scouts & Stuart Littles
We are excited to start off the new year on the right foot. we will be working hard on our preschool first goals and continue to talk more and more. We will be doing our best to begin recognizing all our shapes and colors.
Welcome and Goodbye: Last month we said goodbye to our friends Nolan and Autumn (back to Texas!) and Ms. Mahesha. Big hello to our friends Max, Vivian, and Evelyn. Also, hello to our new assistant director Ms. Danielle. This month we're saying "see you next door" to Lauren & Hannah as they move to the Scout's room. However, we're saying Howdy to Gavin & Graham as they move up from the Smalls!
Grandparent's Day went awesome! I hope your parent's had a great time!
The Scouts & Stuarts
Say what?!?! It's January??? Where has the time gone??? This month we will be continuing to work on preschool first goals. We will be focusing on our fine motor some more and we are continuing to improve everyday! As always we will be creating a lot of awesome open ended art and doing so fun experiments! We are always working on following directions and cleaning up! I'm ready for a GREAT start to our new year!!!
Sawyers
Sherlocks
This month in the Sherlock's room, we are going to try hitting the reading and flashcards really hard. If your child has had flashcards sent home, PLEASE remember to send them to The Tot Spot with them every day so we can work on them and help them progress! We only have one copy of the cards, so if your child has them, nobody else can work on those cards! We will be working on perfecting our handwriting and memorizing our names, phone numbers, addresses, and birthdays, because these seem to be hard for us the last few weeks. Please remember that we will go outside on days that it is above freezing, so be sure that your child has gloves, a hat, and a weather appropriate clothes every day!
Scholastic
There's still lots of awesome winter books to purchase. Check out all the deals for this month!! Scholastic will be sent out January 9th and will orders will be due January 18th. Our online code is HQ686
Healthy Start Wisdom
Healthy Start
Ms. Leandra's family believes in the old New Year's tradition of eating cabbage to hope for good fortune in the coming year. She's not a fan of cabbage, but if her family were to cook this she may be interested in trying it...maybe she would win the lottery (haha)!! You could always make this healthier by using ground turkey or chicken.
Healthy Start Wisdom From Ms. Alisha
I found an interesting website that highlighted a few ways to stay active over the wintertime. Check it out:
The Book Nook
2 and Younger: Priddy Baby First 100 Words
2-3 year olds: Mouse's First Snow by Lauren Thompson
Sawyers & Sherlocks: Frozen by Victoria Saxon
The Parent's Spotlight!
Thank you!!!
- All the Christmas goodies!
- All of the pajama donations! You guys rock!
- With your help, We collected over 65 sets of PJs to help at risk children in our community. Mr. Mike delivered the new jamies and books to the Julian Center Shelter (downtown Indy), and they were BEYOND excited!
Would you like to donate?
We could use:
- Scrap Paper
Is there ever a time when you say to youreself, " I wonder if The Tot Spot would want this"? We could use it in so many ways. You may have babies, but the whole school is yours. Everything can turn into a sensory activity or learning experience. So, before you throw out your junk, ask your teacher if it could be used.
The Teacher's Spotlight!
Question: If you could have a candle to smell like anything you wanted, what would it be and why?
Ms. LeAndra: Hmmm. Most of my favorite scents already have a candle...maybe a strawberry Starburst scent...is there a candle for that?
Ms. Corrine: The smell of happiness so that I could burn that candle and be happy.
Ms. Emily: This is so weird but... I would want a candle to smell like broccoli. I hate broccoli so much, but I LOVE the smell of it.
Ms. Jacanda: I would choose honey dew melon! The smell of honey dew melon just makes you smile!
Mr. Mike: Peach Cobbler
Ms. Stacey: I love to smell wood burning stoves in the crisp Ozark air while breakfast is cooking. Mmmmmm
Ms. Danielle: I’d have a bonfire smelling candle. So, like the fire smell and s’mores all in one.
Ms. Crystal: Coffee, the strongest kind or bacon because I’m allergic to pro but I love the smell of bacon frying on the stove.
Mr. Andy: I don’t do candles
Ms. Maggie: I would want grape. I like to eat grapes and anything with a grape flavor.
Ms. Mikayla: Old books or cut grass. They are one of those smells that make me instantly feel relaxed.
Ms. Katie: I would love a candle that smells like the moment when it first starts to rain. I love rain and thunderstorms and that smell may just be my favorite smell in the whole world.
Ms. Hailey: birthday cake because I love sweet smells
Ms. Ericka: Vanilla berry mixed with cake That would be amazing! Those are my favorite kind of scents.
Ms. Erin: Fresh baked cookies because who doesn't like a warm cookie?
Ms. Alisha:
Ms. Allison: Rosemary and Eucalyptus. They are my favorite scents!
