SEIBA Honor Band

Big image

Three members of the MHS Band performed with the Southeast Iowa Bandmasters Association Honor Band. The honor band is the highest caliber honor band in the area, and students must audition to be accepted. MHS Bands proudly took Larkin Chapman on Trumpet, Adam Spiegel on Percussion, and Zach Miller on Bass Trombone! Pictured above is Adam Spiegel performing on the second piece of the evening. He is playing the Theremin - an interesting instrument that uses performer proximity to determine pitch and volume. It is almost a magical instrument since the performer simply places their hands in the space around the instrument to create the pitches they are seeking.

Adam and the Theremin - loaned by the Coe College Science department - were one of many highlights of the day.
