September 26-September 30
Greetings, WYWLA Family,
Hello, Week 8! Hispanic Heritage Month continues this week. I hope you will consider creative and positive opportunities to bring the celebration to your students. We are working to bring some guest speakers related to Hispanic Heritage Month, be on the lookout.
It is almost Magnet Season, this means it will be important to advocate and support the engagement of both current and potential families. We are working on building our school website to meet the current standards. Please do not be surprised if we invite you to be a part of program advertising and updates.
Please continue to keep Mrs. Abu-Sharr in your thoughts and prayers. Mrs. Abu-Sharr will be out through the end of October at least.
We are well aware of the continuing needs of our students and will be working to support counseling needs and student support in the interim.
Counseling and Student Services Needs Support List:
6th grade student/parents: Mrs. Walker
7th grade students/parents: A-M, Mrs. Walker
7th grade students/parents: L-Z, Ms. Hanna
8th grade students/parents: Ms. Hanna
Mr. Pettiford will continue to support as well. Of course these are ALL of our students; however, this case alignment will help us ensure all students are supported and effectively addressed.
Remember to send notes and reminders to families related to grades, as we are swiftly approaching the end of Quarter 1. Grades should not be a surprise for students and families.
Thank you for all that you continue to do for our OWLs and school nest.
Sincerely,
Hispanic Heritage Month

**Every 4 years, we must re-certify as a magnet school. We ARE in a magnet recertification year, so be on the lookout for news about evidences and artifacts.
PTSA Fundraiser
OWL-A-THON IS BACK!!!
The WYWLA PTSA is proud to launch our 2022 school fundraising campaign. This is our no-bake, no-sell, no-fuss fundraiser, and the proceeds will help us provide even more enrichment and support to our school community.
Our plan this year is to continue to use the funds to support clubs, grants, scholarships, school programs and WYWLA leadership day speaker(s). Any additional funds will also allow for teacher support and school improvements.
Our goal is to raise $7,000 from 9/15 – 9/30!!! Last year, you helped raise $8,100 and we are hoping to top that with your generosity.
In order to hit our goal we are asking every student and parent to please forward the ways to donate to all family members, close friends and co-workers. Some employers may even match your donation so don't forget to ask. Anyone who is able to donate the students, staff and PTSA would love to thank you in advance. Always remember any contribution goes a long way in making a difference!!
