- Monday, October 25 - Twin Day: Support Each Other To Stay Drug Free!

- Tuesday, October 26 - Jersey Day: Team Up Against Drugs!

- Wednesday, October 27 - Halloween Costumes*: Scare Off Drugs!

Please have your child bring their costume to school. We will put them on in the afternoon.

Book Fair

Here is the link to our Book Fair Homepage for interactive flyers and our Book Order Form page. A letter and flyer are being sent home with students next week.

Parking Lot and Drop Off/Pick Up Reminders

With continued no bus service each week, we have an increased volume of traffic in our parking lot and loops. Please be extra cautious, especially as it becomes darker.

  • Students MUST exit the vehicle curbside
  • Parents need to stay inside the vehicle if using the drop off/pick up loop
  • Please no texting and driving
  • As always, be respectful of other drivers, drive safely, and adjust your speed accordingly
  • 5 mph in the Parking Lot and Drop Off Loops

No Bus Service Tuesday

Cottonwood does not have bus service on Tuesday, October 12 and 19. Special Ed routes are running. Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility.

Save the Date

Parent Teacher Conferences are Thursday, October 28 and Friday, October 29. Parents have the choice of in-person or a zoom conference. Teachers will be sending out conference times by Tuesday, October 19.

Halloween Trunk or Treat

Saturday, October 30 is our annual Halloween Festival. This is a joint event between the PTO and Title 1. Students will have the opportunity to trick or treat outside and then enter the gym to play carnival games and go through the Spooky Haunted House. This event is limited to Cottonwood families only. Below are the alpha grouping start times for Trick or Treating to ensure we do not have too many people gathered at one time.

- 1:00: A - F Starts

- 1:30: G - L Starts

- 2:00: M - R Starts

- 2:30: S - Z Starts

Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program

Cottonwood has started a Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program through Nutrition Services. Each week, students will receive a new type of produce to learn about and try. The goal is to introduce them to items that are not easily available in the state of Alaska. This week is the Kiwi Berry. Kiwi Berries are bite-sized fruits that look like a fusion of kiwifruit, grapes, and kumquats. They are rich in vitamin C and E. They are an excellent source of fiber, magnesium, and potassium. Be sure to ask your child how they liked this week's fruit.
