Soon to be moms
Pregnancy and Weight Gain
It depends on how much you weighed before conceived and how appropriate that weight is for your height. If your pre-pregnancy weight was healthy you should gain between 25-35 pounds. If your having twins you should gain 37-54 pounds.
In each food group, choose foods that have the vitamins and minerals you need for a healthy pregnancy. Also make choices that are low in empety calories. Empty calories are the calories from added sugars and solid fats in foods like soft drinks, desserts, fried foods, cheese, whole milk, and fatty meats. Vitamin and mineral supplements cannot replace a healthy diet.
Foods to avoid
Some types of food to avoid when you're pregnant are raw meat, raw oysters, clams, sushi, unpasteurized eggs, raw cookie or cake dough.
