Showcase a School
Robotics Team 2022-23
Avis Automata 5826 is a "FIRST Robotics" team that consists of middle and high school students. The team has several subcategories for students to be involved in: mechanical/build team, software team, and a PR team. Each year the Robotics Team receives a challenge to complete within six weeks. The most recent challenge was to build a robot that could shoot a ball, climb a bar, distinguish color changes, etc. The students that are on the robotics team learn critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork skills. In the parking lot, the robotics team had a robot set up for Board members to see and try out; see above photos.
Chippewa Falls High School
Lexi Roth, School Nurse, showcased the Chippewa Falls High School Student Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.). The SERT team was started in 2007 and has grown significantly in the past few years. Abbigail Volrath (SERT member) and Ireland McQuillan (SERT Incident Commander) presented a PowerPoint about what SERT is, the member roles of the SERT team, and the goals of the SERT team; click here for more details.
Introduction of New Administrators
Jeff Holmes, Superintendent of Schools, introduced Ann Zenner and Rachel Arendt as the district’s newest administrators. Ann Zenner is the new Director of the Cardinal Community Learning Center. She joins the administration team with 20 years of teaching experience with the last five years as the Family and Consumer Science teacher at Chippewa Falls Middle School. Rachel Arendt is the new Middle School Assistant Principal. She has been with the district for the past 13 years as a middle school Spanish teacher; see above.
District Wellness Action Plan Annual Review
Melissa Panchyshyn, Assistant Food Service Director, provided an annual report. Melissa shared that this year participating students will need to pay for breakfast and lunch, unless they qualify for free and reduced lunch; click here for more details.
Summer School Programming
Sue Kern, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, gave an overview of the summer programming that was available for elementary, middle, and high school students; click here for more details.

Consideration of Monitoring Report OE-5: Personnel Administration
Michelle Golden, Executive Director of Human Resources and Public Relations, provided an overview of the OE-5 Personnel Administration monitoring report; the Board agreed that the District is in compliance with noted exceptions with monitoring report OE-5; click here for more details.

Matters Reserved for Board Action
Resolution Authorizing Temporary Borrowing in an Amount Not to Exceed $10,000,000; Issuance of Tax and Revenue Anticipation Promissory Notes; and Participation in the PMA Levy and Aid Anticipation Notes Program
Chad Trowbridge, Executive Director of Business Services & Finance, presented an overview of the temporary borrowing situation for the 2022-23 school year; the Board approved a resolution authorizing temporary borrowing in an amount not to exceed $10,000,000; issuance of tax and revenue anticipation promissory notes; and participation in the PMA levy and aid anticipation notes program; click here for more details.
Consideration of Facilities Committee Meeting Notes
The Board approved the Facilities Committee meeting notes for the 08/02/2022 and 08/17/2022 meetings as presented by Chairperson Sharon McIlquham; she additionally notified the Board that a draft survey was being provided to the Board for their consideration at the Board's September meeting; click here for more details.

Sue Kern, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, shared with the Board that Board Policy 2221 has been updated, which added September 11th as a Special Observance Day.
Chad Trowbridge, Executive Director of Business Services & Finance, gave an overview of the current enrollment numbers.
Return to Schools Reminder
The US Government continues to maintain its “Public Health Emergency” status; given our local situation the District will begin the school year at Level 1 - Masks optional.
