Family Engineering a Huge Success

Congratulations to the Family Engineering Committee for creating an outstanding night for our students and families. Flying whirlygigs, boats, newspaper structures to hold heavy books, and many other thought provoking activities were scattered over the gym, cafe, and teachers' lunchroom.

The Invention Convention featured all kinds of amazing creations. THe HSHS Robotics Club was here with a miniature R2D2 as well as other moving machines. Kids lined up and watched for so long they missed some of the other activities.

I spent my time checking in with our kiddos and listening to parents bubbling with how much this night is enjoyed by kids and parents. Holly, Deb, Karen, Georgi, Ruth, and Meg deserve huge thanks for the time, energy, and creativity they put into this.

Can you say 21st Century Learning Skills? They were all on display last night.

Meet Allison Neale - Permanent Floating Sub

Big image

Hello! My name is Allison Neale. I am from Evansville, IN, and hold a bachelor's degree in elementary education with a minor in Spanish from the University of Southern Indiana.

My teaching experience includes tutoring, coaching, and substitute teaching. I have completed long term sub positions in first grade, sixth grade English and Language Arts, middle school level Spanish, and high school Spanish levels 1 and 2. In addition to subbing, I have also been a part time Spanish teacher, tutor, musical choreographer, winter guard and winter drumline instructor, kindergarten Sunday School teacher, and dance ministry leader.

I moved from Evansville to Fishers in August of 2014 to take some classes at IUPUI. I am currently a member of their dance company. When I am not at company rehearsals in the evenings, I am usually either tutoring or at color guard practices in Martinsville, where I serve as an assistant director.

I started subbing in the Hamilton Southeastern School District in February and have recently become a floating permanent sub at Cumberland Road Elementary. Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming to me. HSE seems like a great community, and I am so thrilled to now be part of it!

Joining First Grade Next Year. . . Beth Meng

Big image

Beth will be joining us in the fall of 2015 as one of our new primary teachers. She brings a depth of international experience to us. We will be lucky to have her. Take a moment to get to know her by reading her brief autobio below:

Hello! My name is Beth. I am excited to be joining the CRE team this Fall! I have spent the past two years here in HSE. Right now I am teaching first grade at Thorpe Creek. Last year I taught second grade at Brooks School as well as third grade at Fall Creek. I enjoy collaborating with colleagues and trying new things. My favorite things to teach are science, social studies, and poetry.

My husband and I live here in Fishers and are avid fans of Handel’s ice cream in town. We try to get outside as much as we can and enjoy exploring our state parks. Recently we also have been trying to get back into running. We love serving our church family, especially the middle and high school students who we have the privilege to mentor. In free time I read biographies and research places all over the world.

Jennifer Snair Will Also Be Joining Us

Jennifer joins us in the fall of 2015 as well. Currently she is completing her first year at SCE. Jennifer will be an outstanding addition to our CRE staff.

I began my career in Pike Township, then went on to work as an Apple Reading IA in Noblesville. Last year, I taught first grade at a small charter in Anderson. I love anything that has to do with literacy and writing! When I’m at home I enjoy painting, yoga, and Netflix marathons. I spend a fair amount of time at the Humane Society and have two adopted furbabies.

CRES PTO Silent Auction Basket 2nd Place Runner Up winner for HSEFoundation Game Day 15 School Partnership Program

We owe our PTO a huge thank you. Their Silent Auction basket helped the Foundation exceed their goals which allows them to accelerate the purchase of more F & P Benchmark Assessment Kits. Take a look at the professionally made video below. It's funny and makes a great point about why we need the kits in our district.

The top partners will be recognized at the upcoming HSE School Board meeting scheduled for April 13 at 7pm. Nicole Dunn and Tabbatha will be presented a check for $250 and get a photo opportunity with FORUM Credit Union representatives.
