Office News

Due to the shortened week , there will be no Spencer Scoop next week. Here's just a friendly reminder that there is NO SCHOOL from November 24th through November 29th for Thanksgiving Break. School will resume on Tuesday, November 30th. We hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Brighton Area Schools, in partnership with BSN Sports & Nike, have set up on-line stores for students and parents at all of our buildings. For the Grand Opening, they are offering a 25% discount on EVERYTHING for a Limited Time Only. If you're looking for Brighton Bulldog apparel for men, women, children or wall signs, decals, tumblers etc., they have a wide array of products that are great for everyday or for your holiday shopping needs. COVID-19 Self-Reporting Link

If you need to report a Covid-19 case to the health department, you can access the Self Reporting Link to the Livingston County Health Department by clicking the button below...

Do Not Send Your Child to School If...

Spencer has recently received an increase in positive COVID cases. You can help keep all safe with a few easy steps:

If your child has any illness symptoms such as,

  • Fever over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Other early symptoms, including chills, body aches, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, headache, diarrhea, and nausea/ vomiting.

Stay home!

Other reasons to remain home:
If someone in your home has recently tested for COVID-19, keep everyone home until the results are in. If a positive test is revealed, everyone in-home needs to remain home for the full ten days.

Then, please call 810-299-4350 and let us know. You'll also want to complete the self-reporting link. The sooner this is done, the sooner Mr.Renner can process the paperwork.

The health department will notify Mr.Renner and share with him a return date for your child.

Please be diligent and do your part to keep all at Spencer safe.

Last Chance for Lost & Found!

There is a new large Lost & Found bin for clothing. It is still located outside Door #21. A huge THANK YOU to Jen Lumsden for washing, drying, and folding all the items! The smaller bin is now holding forgotten water bottles & lunch items. All items will be donated after November 19th so come and check it out if you are missing any items.

Lunch Information

NOTE: If your child is a COLD LUNCH, the cost of a milk is $.50. It is NOT FREE. If your child gets a HOT LUNCH, the milk is included in the free Federal grant lunch.

Thank you to all our students who submitted acts for our first (virtual) Talent Show! We have a lot of talented students in this Spencer family. If you haven't already watched the videos, they will be available through midnight on Saturday, November 20. All videos and the voting form can be found here. Winners will be announced on Monday and Talent Show pins will be distributed to participants and viewers next week.

We are anticipating holding this year's Holiday Shop in-person on Friday December 3rd (4-8pm), and Saturday December 4th (10am-3pm). This is a great opportunity for students to shop for family members. More information should be coming home with your child this week. We will have volunteers to help shop and stay on budget. We will need volunteers to help out both days! Please take a look at the sign-up genius here for volunteer opportunities!

We like to show our staff just how much we appreciate them this time of year. We will be collecting gift cards for every staff member, to be given before our winter break. We want to collect as many gift cards as possible for this! If you would like to donate, please sign up for a spot here!

As always, please check out our Facebook page and/or website for the most up to date information this year.

Note From the Counselor

Counselor Corner!

Hello from your Elementary Counselor, Mrs. McKiddy! I have very much enjoyed our start to a great school year. I spent the month of September visiting classrooms for a social-emotional lesson centered around forming connections with peers and strengthening friendships. I have also increased visits with individual students needing social-emotional support. I am working hard to add some peer support groups by the end of the month! As the year progresses, I am continuing to connect with classroom teachers for referrals for students who are struggling or may need additional support. If you are noticing some behaviors that are interfering with your child’s success in the classroom, please feel free to complete my parent referral form and we can work together to determine if supports are needed here at school.

We also have our BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home! Please feel free to contact your counselor with any questions or concerns that you may have, and Mrs. Fox or Mrs. McKiddy will do their best to support your child.

Mrs. McKiddy
