Distance Learning and Technology
Conferencing
More than ever, our teachers are committed to maintaining a strong relationship with the parents of our students. Communication is going to be critical in the coming weeks as we all embark on distance learning. Your child's teacher will be available via email and telephone. In the coming days, you will be receiving information from your child's teacher(s) about the best way to reach them and to request a phone conference. Teachers are very willing to schedule a time for a call during the day or on scheduled evenings.
*Be aware that teachers are not permitted to hold individual telephone or video conferences with a student. Per Diocesan Safe Environment policy, a teacher may hold a conference with more than one student at a time, with a student and a parent, or have another staff member present.

Tips for Distance Learning
- Maintain a routine for your child, including bedtimes and waking up in the morning. Recognize that it may not be the same times as regular school days, but consistency and routines are important for our children.
- Have children make their beds, eat breakfast, and get dressed - just as they would do if they were coming into the school daily.
- Establish a work area for your child, regardless of how old he/she is. Limit distractions such as cell phones, television, radio, conversations, etc.
- Help your child maintain a balance in his/her life. During this time of social distancing, identify safe activities, free of electronics, for your child to do inside and outside.
- Use this crucial time in our country to create some special family time. Play board games, do a puzzle, go for a bike ride together, facetime long distance family members, read a book as a family, have a family movie night.
- Most important, please keep in mind the enormous stress that your young child may be experiencing through all of this. Try to eliminate watching the news or discussing this with your child in the room.
- Know that you aren't in this alone. Your extended school family is here to support you and your child. Your child's teacher(s) is available to help with academic or technology questions. Mrs. Valenzuela is very happy to assist with any psychological concerns that you or your child may be facing during this time. Father Luis is available to support your spiritual needs.
