Puppy Pound

Service Learning Project
After researching how we can help the Naperville Humane Society, and with the donations of socks, fabric markers and empty water bottles, we assembled a very squeaky, squishy dog toy that can also be pulled and tugged. Ms. Jacobs, the art teacher, showed the children how to draw a dog for the doggy bags and we wrote thank you for adopting me cards.
Naperville Humane Society
Mrs. Lonski gave an amazing presentation as to how the shelter works. The children learned so much about what they do for the animals while they are waiting to be adopted and what they can do for their own pet so that it can stay safe. They did not have any dogs/puppies to show us but they brought.....KITTENS!!! That is a first in the puppy pound!
Reading
We are making our own graphic organizers for our nonfiction books. We are looking for interesting facts as we read.
Ugly Sweater Guess Who
For math , we played a version of Guess Who but we had patterns of ugly sweaters to chose from. It was interesting that many students didn't know what a v-neck was...now they do!
Mrs. Shade Challenge
Mrs. Shade gave us quite a math challenge using isoscelese triangles and contraints! It was really hard but the students didn't give up and we rose to the challenge!!!
Top Dog
Risha was our Top Dog. Her favorite animal is a lion and a dog. She loves to eat pizza and tacos. She is pawsome at painting and swimming. When she grows up, she wants to be a doctor.
Doggy Bag
1. We had a lock down drill on Wednesday as part of all of the drills we do throughout the year.
