Happy Sunday Pirate Families!

This week our students will continue with their middle of year assessments. Please remind your child to charge their device and bring it to school each day so that they are prepared for assessments and learning. So far, I have been very impressed with the efforts put forth by our students and the growth that we have seen. When the assessment window closes, we will send a parent report home so that you can see your child's scores.

Tomorrow, report cards will be sent home with students. Please sign and return the envelope, the report card is yours to keep. Many businesses such as Krispy Kreme and Fuzzy Peach reward students for good grades. Next week we will highlight our Principal's List and Honor Roll students.

Tomorrow at 7 pm we will have another WebEx Parent Workshop on Coping Skills. Please see the flier in our newsletter (below) for registration details. The webinar is available to all parents, but you do have to register by emailing MPAC.Lejeune@militarychild.org.

This Tuesday night is PaPa Johns Spirit Night from 4pm-8pm (Oops, I had the wrong date last week, my apologies).

On Wednesday, the Strategic Planning Team will meet virtual from 7:30-8:15 am. Our strategic plan is posted on our website and an email invite will be sent to team members. Every Wednesday at 1pm our Enrichment Team hosts a live Teams session for all students to join. This week check out our Art & Counseling session by using the link in our newsletter (below).

Friday be sure to visit Sweeter Things Ice Cream Shack Spirit Night anytime from 3–8:00 pm for a little treat and a portion of your purchase will go back to our school. Thanks for supporting our local businesses and our school.

Monday January 18th is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. There will be no school for students.

Please make sure that you are following the most recent OCS calendar. I have posted it in our newsletter (below.) Wednesdays will continue to be remote for all students through March.

Please help us expedite our morning screenings by turning your heat down. This will help ensure accurate temperature checks.

As always, we ask that if you or anyone in your household have any Covid symptoms, exposure or concerns, please reach out to the school. Each case is unique and will require you to speak with Nurse Sammons or Ms. Highsmith to ensure student safety and adherence to OCS policies. We will be glad to assist you through this process and appreciate your willingness to keep us informed regarding our students' health and safety. The students and staff are doing amazing adjusting to our Covid policies.

Reminder about car seat safety:

Please make sure that you are keeping your child safe and adhering to the NC state laws regarding car seats. Here is a website with a summary of seatbelt laws for children: https://www.buckleupnc.org/occupant-restraint-laws/child-passenger-safety-law-summary/. If you fail to comply with the law, you may receive a ticket from our SRO.

Note from Nurse Sammons:

If you OR your child has a fever of over 100, a new cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell or you are being quarantined per medical advice or are being Covid tested per medical request PLEASE email the Nurse or call the school. We must clear your child per OCS protocol before they return on the bus or return to in person school. Nurse Sammons email is Mollie.Sammons@onslow.k12.nc.us. For more information, please check out Nurse Sammons' webpage on our school's website.
