Everett Weekly 4.7.23
April 7, 2023
Happy Friday!
As we kick off a holiday weekend, I wish you and your families a wonderful weekend filled with celebration, whether it is through Passover, Ramadan, Easter, or another family tradition. This week was a whirlwind reentry back to school after a restful spring break, but please know that I am committed to making Everett the most amazing place for your children to learn and grow. If you have any suggestions for how I can make anything better, please reach out. You know I always welcome an opportunity to have a coffee together! On a separate note, please read the important IAR reminder for 3rd and 4th grade students as we head into next week:
IAR Testing
Starting next week, our district administers the IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) in Grades 3-8. We ask that all iPads come to school fully charged each day. Making sure that software is updated and installed would also be helpful. We appreciate your partnership to ensure this is completed each night. We will be testing Tuesday, April 11-Thursday, April 13. As always, please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep, eats a sustaining breakfast, and most importantly, gets to school on time! Thank you for your support and partnership.
Also, we will be surprising students with a little treat and a motivational message each day.
Day 1: Smarties
Day 2: Tootsie Rolls
Day 3:: Starburst
While we have examined these ingredients to ensure they have lower reactive ingredients, I ask you to let me know if you prefer your child to avoid participation with this treat or if you need an alternative item.
Thank you for all your support!
Renée

Sir William Lane Watermain Replacement Project

School’s Out Food Drive - May 1-5, 2023
Please join the District 67 APT for the School's Out Food Drive to benefit North Chicago Community Partners. Donations will be accepted from Monday, May 1 to Friday, May 5 at all of our District 67 Schools.
Requested Donations
The following items for your school may be dropped off in your school lobby:
- Cherokee: Canned Mixed Vegetables, Bagged Pinto Beans, Vanilla Extract, Peanut Butter or Jelly
- DPM 5/6: Cereal Boxes, Individual Snack Boxes, Baking Soda or Baking Powder, Peanut Butter or Jelly
- DPM 7/8: Mac & Cheese Cups, Juice Boxes, Cooking Oil, Peanut Butter or Jelly
- Everett: Pasta, Pasta Sauce, Chocolate Chips, Peanut Butter or Jelly
- Sheridan: Apple Sauce, Granola Bars, Canned Corn, Rice, Peanut Butter or Jelly
Why Donate?
One in four children in neighboring communities experience food insecurity and are left without regular meals (normally served at school) over the summer months. To help these students, District 67 works with North Chicago Community Partners (NCCP), a local nonprofit supporting our neighboring youth in North Chicago School District 187. Each week, about 75 families visit NCCP's Family Care Closet, a respectful school-based food pantry available to area families. Your donation of food matters!
Volunteers Needed
Join us to help sort the food after school on Friday, May 5, 3:30pm at CROYA.
