Facts
The Mariner Missions were a lot of Missions conducted by the N.A.S.A space agency. These Missions started in July 22, 1962 and ended in November 3, 1973. These spaceships were built to investigate Mercury, Venus and Mars they were also sent there to take pictures and transmit data.
Mariner 1 & 2
Mariner 1 and Mariner 2 were identical space probes, and they were designed to go to Venus. Mariner 1 however was not able to go to Venus, when it was launched in July 22 1962 it was blown up by a range safety officer because it went off course. Mariner 2 launched in August 27, 1962 and did go correctly and it reached Venus.
The Journey
The journey to Venus for Mariner 2 was a 3 1/2 month journey. When Mariner 2 reached Venus it scanned it and transmitted data. But since Venus has a hot surface and thick cloud it got damaged and N.A.S.A lost track of Mariner to and now Mariner 2 is somewhere in space.
1962: Mariner 2 (NASA)
Mariner 2
The successful mission.
Mariner 1
The failed first mission.
Venus
Mariner 1 and 2's destination.
Mariner 4,6,7,8,9,10
Mariner 6 & Mariner 7
Mariner 6 and 7 were identical just like Mariner 1 and 2 but these were built to go to Mars. Mariner 6 and Mariner 7 were so smartly built that it could transmit data 2000 as much as which Mariner 4. Mariner 4 was the first mission to get a really close look at Mars.
Mariner 4
This was the first Mariner to get a really close look at Mars.
Mariner 6
Mariner 6 was launched first and it reached Mars first and Mariner 6 and 7 both studied Mars but did not land on it.
Mariner 7
Since Mariner 6 and Mariner 7 were identical they were exactly the same.
Mariner 4
As I said Before Mariner 4 was the First Mariner mission to get a really close look at Mars. It took bunches of pictures, scans also radar signals. That only Mission figured out a lot of mysteries.
Mariner 9 Orbits Mars
Mariner 10
Mariner 10
Mariner 10 was the 7th and last Mariner Mission it went to Mars to investigate more. It was the smartest of all of the other Mariners. It was the first Mariner to actually orbit a planet. It also investigated Venus.
