Mrs. Lockhart
5/6 Language Arts and Reading
About me!
My husband and I graduated from Texas A&M in 2009...WHOOP! I taught fourth grade in Jarrell, Tx for 3 years. We then moved back to Bryan/College Station, and I got the position here in North Zulch and have loved being a part of this wonderful place! My husband and I both love rodeoing and hunting. We have 3 dogs and 2 horses! And most exciting...a baby boy on the way, due in January!
My goal for students this year is to learn to read for enjoyment! I love hearing students discuss their current books, and see them get excited about what they're reading! I want to help any struggling readers build confidence through celebrating the positives, and working on strategies for any struggles. The more students can read, the stronger they'll be in reading AND writing!

Info regarding calendar on back of reading: This is a reading log for students to record their nightly reading. They are required to read M-Thur. 20 mins per night. Students may choose any night Monday-Thursday to do their summary response and activity. Please sign summary parent signature and calendar parent signature before students turn in on Fridays.
For 5th and 6th grade, students will have a set vocabulary list each week.
5th grade will have a shortened spelling list. I do not require studying/homework for spelling, but you're more than welcome to practice the words at home. We will practicing in class throughout the week and focusing on the pattern. We'll do a quick assessment on Fridays. This is a new way of doing spelling for my class, so we'll tweak where needed and work out what's best for the kids. Thank you for your patience. I will start sending the kids with a list, so they can practice their words outside of class as needed.
