A Message from Mr. Anderson
I can't believe it, but this week is the end of the first marking period! We at school are forever grateful for your support as a school community and the trust you have put into us to make this school year the best it can be! Your child's teacher will be reaching out to you soon to set up parent teacher conferences to happen prior to Thanksgiving Break.
As you are aware, we are seeing differing trends in the area related to COVID-19 cases and parts of our county have been deemed "yellow" which has required more strict regulations and policies to keep schools open. Although we are not currently in a yellow zone, we are planning ahead just in case this happens and affects us. In preparation, We will be holding a live Zoom parent "Town Hall" meeting this Thursday at 6:30pm. A Zoom link will be sent to all elementary parents and students Thursday so that everyone can attend.
This meeting will focus on:
- The evolution of our current Hybrid Model.
- What to expect should we have to go to 100% fully virtual learning if the school building had to close for students.
- Current safety protocols and expectations.
- Updates from the region.
A patriotic moment - This Tuesday is Voting Day! An incredibly exciting and important day to the continuous support of our nation as a representative democracy. This is a moment for all of us as Americans to express our citizenship and remember that we all have the same thing in common that makes us amazing: We Are All Americans. Together! No matter the political differences that people may have, we all share a common bond as Americans. Let us celebrate this together and show love for our entire country together!

Mrs. Sears, Elementary School Counselor
Hello My Panthers,
I have included an article called "Building Structure at Home". This is a great read that explains the three key ingredients to building structure in the home: consistency, predictability and follow-through.

Message from the Health Office Regarding Student Absences and Protocols
Last week, the New York State Department of Health provided school districts across New York State a toolkit with the most updated guidance for schools to utilize in responding to sick students or staff members. As you know, COVID-19 is beginning to spread across Steuben County and the Southern Tier as well as across other parts of the state. This causes the state and its school districts to continue to revise and adjust the required health and safety protocols to ensure the entire school community can remain healthy and safe. We have taken direction from NYS Dept. of Health and Steuben County Public Health in revising our C-S procedures for students or staff members who become ill and exhibit any of the COVID-19 symptoms. Although only slight changes are necessary, it is important that our entire community is aware of these changes as they will be implemented immediately beginning Monday, October 19.
Summary of C-S procedures for ill students or staff.
- Students and Staff who present any of the COVID-19 symptoms must follow up with a healthcare provider OR get a COVID-19 test and communicate their follow up with the school health office within 48 hours.
- Self-quarantining is no longer an option for follow-up (unless placed on a mandatory quarantine by Steuben County Public Health).
- Any ill student or staff who do not follow up with a healthcare provider or get a COVID-19 test will be "deemed positive" by the Steuben County Public Health Department and will be placed on a mandatory quarantine alongside any close contacts as determined through contact tracing.
As a reminder, all required forms for follow-up with a healthcare provider are available on our district website on the Health Office Department webpage. These forms can also be emailed to you from the main office of provided in hard copy at the school for pick-up. Please reach out to the school if you have any questions!
Sincerely,
Melody DeCamp

School Info App - Communicating with your child's teacher(s)
How to Get messages from your child's teachers: One important way to get messages from your child's teacher and to make sure that you are getting updates from the school is to go to "My Alerts". Once in "my alerts" make sure that "Enable Push Notifications" is turned on and that all of the buttons are turned "on".
Next... look at the bottom of the screen, you will see the picture of a bell next two an icon of two people. Click on the icon of the 2 people. This will then bring up teachers names along with icons to turn on notifications. Search out your child's teacher(s) and turn on those notifications.
If you would like to send your child a message, go back to the main screen and click "conversations" this then works just like text messaging on your smart phone. Make sure to put a title to the message so you know who you are sending it to when you go back to the app.
New Things!
- The student absence and Tech Help Forms are now in a button on the first page of the app! Just click and you can fill everything out on your smartphone!
A word of advice - Always check and make sure when you are in the app that you are in the correct school. Make sure that it is the Campbell Savona Elementary school:)
