Principal's Message
We have been working deeply on learning intentions and success criteria and making the learning meaningful and relevant to students. We have heavily discussed how students can really articulate their learning and needed growth areas. The learning intentions are tied to the actual Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and are written in a meaningful form for students in each grade level, and the success criteria can be in the form of various rubrics, checklists, sentence stems, etc. The list goes on. The biggest take away is that we are moving towards having students own their learning and thinking - student ownership.
We are working hard to develop characteristics in students that are defined by the Profile of a Graduate.
I am proud of the work that the teachers have done. We are moving forward in an awesome way.
I also want you to know I deeply care about all of our students here at Pecan Grove Elementary and am proud to be the principal of such a close community. As we don’t send correspondence home for safety drills, I will communicate official safety concerns as appropriate, to assure you know all safety protocols have been followed. As in prior years, our assigned officer will patrol our area and visit our campus regularly to keep us safe!
Lastly, I am excited to announce that the FBISD Board of Trustees Literacy Tour will be held at our beautiful school. There's been a slight adjustment to the start time. See details below.

A note from our nurse...
Parents please remember the District policy regarding students with fever states that students must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of medicine before returning back to school after an illness. Also, students at school with a temperature of 100.0 degrees or above will be sent home from school and may not return for 24 hours. This policy is to prevent the spread of illness in school.
Finally, students are not allowed to transport any kind of medicine to and from school in their backpack. The medicine must be brought to the Nurse by the parent and a form signed.
Thank you for your assistance in keeping our Cubs safe and healthy!Character Trait of the Month - Knowledge
Safety
The doors will close at 8:10 a.m. in the car rider drop off line. Please make sure to bring your students around to the front doors and walk them in, thank you!
Parking: Please use the visitor parking lot and walk your child into the front office. The teacher parking lot is not the area to do this as it is unsafe to cross through the car rider line and teachers need to be able to park and get into the building.
Weather Dismissal: We monitor the weather closely and decide at the end of the day if it's safe for our students to exit. We will make last minute weather calls, if needed. You'll be notified via call-out.
Please remember to send an email and request an absence be excused! You don’t want an invitation from the Truancy Diversion Program!
When is an absence excused?

- Illness and medical appointments
- Required court appearances
- Religious holy days
- Activities related to obtaining United States citizenship
