The Bobcat Beat
September 9, 2020
At this point, we have a few days under our belt and while we had to work through some technology concerns this week, I appreciate everyone's patience and positivity through it all! Our classroom teachers have focused on building connections, relationships, and establishing a sense of community, just as they would at the start of a school year.
We appreciate your support and help at home as well - it has not gone unnoticed. We THANK YOU for everything you are doing! We understand how this situation can be stressful and we encourage you to continue to reach out to your child's teacher, our school counselor, Mrs. Kate Coulter (kcoulter@wcasd.net), FHE's Temporary Assistant Principal, Mrs. Susan Gray (sgray@wcasd.net) or to me (reberly@wcasd.net) if we can help with anything.
WCASD Counseling and Mental Health Professionals Service Guide
We recognize that our students at home may feel isolated. Please know that one of our main goals is to help your children feel connected to their teacher, classroom and Fern Hill! Our district has a Counseling and Mental Health Professionals Service Guide to provide supports and resources if your child is having a difficult time through all of this. This guide provides Counselor and Mental Health Professionals' contact information, services, important forms, and additional resources for parents of students Kindergarten through 12th grade.
Reminders from the PTO
We hope the first 2 weeks of school are going well. We know this year will certainly look a lot different than those in the past. As a PTO our role remains the same to support our students, staff, families and community. To do that, given the current circumstances, we are exploring new ideas to help maintain a social connection with our families and school while supporting our local community.
We do not plan to do a large Fundraising campaign unless we go back to the building and our budget needs to increase but we will concentrate on smaller FUN-raisers to engage our FHE Community including Cyber and Remote 2.0 BOBCATS. We are planning to use money raised last year and this year for the following:
1) FHE BOBCAT SIGNAGE above the Stage!!
2) Replace water fountains with Bottle Refill Stations
3) Bathroom Poster artwork-encouraging messages
