Food & Friends...It's a Progressive Dinner!
Join us as we sponsor the first-ever Wolverine Wellness "PROGRESSIVE DINNER"!
- When: Sunday, October 4th
- Time: 4:00-7:00p.m. (or so??)
- How: Sign up in either office--OR--by clicking HERE
Don't know what a "Progressive Dinner" is?
No problem! A small group of people will travel from one participant's home to another, eating a different course at each house.
For example, the Feterl's might host for appetizers, then we would all go to the Ihrke's for salad, the Pichelmann's for the main course, and end at Lorie Thomes' for dessert.
*Here's the wellness twist on a progressive dinner: we hope to bike or walk (weather permitting) from house to house -AND- eat relatively healthy food at all stops.
Don't live in the district?
No problem! You can team up and help host at a friend's house who does live in the district. Indicate who you want to partner up with on the sign-up sheet.
Are children welcome?
You bet! And if you don't have kids or would prefer to have an evening without kids, please indicate that on the sign-up sheet. We will try our best to meet all requests.
Am I going to be hosting 50 people at my house?!
Nope! If we have a large number of people interested in the progressive dinner event, we will break up into smaller groups, but consider having everyone reconvene in a location for the final course.
We will figure this out a lot of the details once registration is complete. In the meantime, trust us that this is going to be a TON of fun! Did we mention that it's worth 5 Wolverine Wellness Tokens (see below for more information on the program).
Blood Pressure Cuffs
The cuff at the Arlington site is now located in the nurse's office. The blood pressure cuff at the Gaylord site is in the staff lounge.
Token Program
30 mins. of physical activity = 1 token
It doesn't matter if you run, bike, walk, swim, canoe, or kick-box...all activities will be measured the same this year. Keep track on your personal calendar/planner, an app, or whatever method is convenient for you. At the end of each month, we will remind you to turn in your total token count. Simple, right?!
Reward levels are 25, 50, 75, and 100. Prizes are to be determined, but don't worry...they will be FABULOUS!
Support Groups
In the coming days we hope to set up a Google+Community for each of the groups. If you signed up for a group last week during the all staff breakfast, be on the look-out for an email inviting you to join your group. If you did not have a chance to sign up yet, please email Amanda Feterl (amanda.feterl@sibleyeast.org) for more information.
Our vision is to let each support group take charge of what they want to accomplish this year. Use the Google+Community to plan, communicate, and share all things related to your group's interests.
For example, the healthy cooking group might share recipe ideas or plan a time to get together and cook freezer meals. If they decide to bring in a healthy cooking instructor that costs money, then they can ask the Wellness committee for money in order to do this.
But, that's just one example, so get creative and more importantly...get together!
Snack Shack
The employee wellness survey results indicated that staff desire healthy snack options while at work. So, starting this week, the Wolverine Wellness Snack Shack will be available at each campus.
Arlington = Main Office
Gaylord = Staff Lounge
All items are $0.50 each. The Snack Shack will operate on an honor system. We will do our best to provide fresh and/or healthy snack alternatives, but if you have a specific request or something you'd like to see added, then please email Amanda Feterl (amanda.feterl@sibleyeast.org) and we will do our best to honor your request.
