Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee
Our 5th grade students participated in a Social-Emotional Activity during the Elementary School Wellness day. They talked about how to create a positive, supportive culture in their school. Each student identified an action step they could take and wrote it on a handprint. This is displayed in the 5th grade house area, as reminder of steps we can all take to be more loving and supportive!
On April 25th, our DEI Committee met to reflect on our work so far. We broke into building-based groups and started to create some plans at each building level. Some topics discussed were identifying student members at each building level, engaging parents and planning curriculum work. We discussed upcoming events (e.g., Juneteenth) and how we will recognize and celebrate.
