Halloween Parade

10:30am - Halloween Parade Begins outside on walking track!

All parents are invited to watch the Keith Halloween Parade outside on the playground. We will have a staff member signing parents in at the gate on the field beginning at 10:10am. Following the parade, only parents with visitor stickers who have signed in will be allowed into the building. All others will need to sign in at the main office, but certainly all are welcome!

At Home Reading Tips!

Dragon families understand the importance of reading at home. The linked article Tips for Supporting Reading Skills at Home may help you with your child's reading journey at home. Please be sure to consider some of the helpful suggestions and while this is important for students in grades K-3, there are suggestions that could work for kids at any level. Some suggestions include:

1. Have conversations before, during, and after reading together

2. Help children learn how to break sentences into words and words into syllables

3. Help children sound out words smoothly

4. Model reading fluently by practicing reading aloud with your child

Second Step Announcement!

Parents, this week your children focused on the second step lesson below. Please take a moment to talk with your children about how they took time to show positive behavior at school.

Listening:

At Keith Elementary School, we all work hard to be the best learners we can be. One skill for learning is to listen with attention. When we listen with attention, our eyes are watching the speaker, our ears are listening, our voices are quiet, and we’re still. This week, practice being a great listener every day!

Next week, our focus will be on focusing attention. We will review the following with your children when they return to school on Monday.

Focusing Attention:

Learning happens every day at Keith Elementary school. An important skill for learning is focusing attention. When we focus our attention we use our ears, our eyes, and our brain! This week, put on your attent-o-scopes and notice how they help you listen and learn.
