An inside look at what your child is learning
We love fall!
Our class has had a great time talking about the changes in the weather that come with fall! Ask your student about the different colors of the leaves and and how they are "fall"-ing from the trees.
Also, please remember to send your child to school with a jacket and closed-toe shoes. It is beginning to get cold outside, and in order to be safe and enjoy recess we want to make sure everyone is dressed appropriately.
Prepositions-a-Plenty!
Our class has been talking about location words and phrases. Your student should be able to describe where things are using words like "above," "beside," or "near." We used fun things like magnets and a wooden bead maze to move objects around and talk about different positions.
Math Whizzes
Your child has been practicing identifying numbers 1-10. Point out some numbers while you drive or watch TV and ask your student to tell you what they are!
The Letter P
This week we have been learning the letter P. Next Friday, our class will have a "P-Party" where we will wear pink and purple and have a show-and-tell for things that begin with P. Help your student be creative in thinking of different P items to bring!
At-Home Activities
Read, Read, Read!
All of my students love to read books! Spend some time reading with your child, and have them point to the letters that we have learned in class.
I have listed a few of our classroom favorites that can be found in local bookstores and libraries:
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
Authors: Bill Martin Jr. & John Archambault
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Author: Eric Carle
Goodnight Moon
Author: Margaret Wise Brown
Parent Feedback
I would love to collaborate with you about how to help your children transition between home and school successfully. Please take a moment to complete this quick survey so I can have a better idea of what I can be doing to improve our class!
