High School Knowledge Bowl

Placed 1st in 2A at the regional meet on January 24th.

Employment

The Board approved the employment of Lane Devoge, Custodial Substitute, Deanna Elliott, Food Service, and Sherry Warren, Secondary Paraprofessional. They also approved the following for extra duty pay agreements for the 2023-2024 school year: Jonathon Medina, JH Football Coach, Kacie Cobb, JH Volleyball Coach, Sarah Schaller, JH Volleyball Coach, Sami Cotten, HS Head Volleyball Coach, Shelley David, Assistant HS Volleyball Coach, and Connor Flynn as JH Athletic Director.

2023-2024 School Calendar Approved

The school calendar for the upcoming year was approved by the board. The first day of classes August 15th ( and 16th for elementary students for a staggered start) . School breaks will be 11/20-11/24 Thanksgiving Vacation, 12/25-1/4-Christmas Vacation, and 3/18-3/22 -Spring Break. The last day of school will be May 23, 2024. Graduation for the Class of 2024 will be May 24, 2024.

Other Items

The financial reports for January, and minutes of the two previous meetings were approved. The board also approved a Memorandum of Understanding for Otero College Development Services. All Head Start Programs are required to enter into a MOU with the school district that the child will enter after participating in Head Start. The intent of the requirement is to maximize public resources provided to support young children and families and to improve the availability and quality of services community wide.

The Board discussed several topics which include; Superintendent vacancy, budget work session, scholastic performance, Policy review of JICDE- Bullying Prevention and Education, AD- Distinct Goals and Objectives, DBJ Budget Transfers, DC Taxing and Borrowing , DD Funding Proposals, Grants and Special Projects, DEA Funds from Local Tax Sources, DEB Loan Programs, DFA-DFAA Revenues from Investments/Use of Surplus Funds, DFC On-Campus Housing , DFC-R Job Description for Staff Personnel Living on Campus with Campus Building Supervisory Duty , DG Banking Services and DGA Authorized Signatures

Sargent Lady Farmer Swim Team

Congratulations to the Sargent Lady Famer Swim Team who had 4 girls compete at the State Meet. They placed 15th place in the 200 Medley Relay, 19th place in the 100 fly, and 19th place in the 200 Free Relay!

Our Lady Farmers have advanced to Regionals. They will travel to Burlington on Friday March 3rd to play the Cougars. Game time is 5:30 p.m. BE LOUD BE PROUD LET'S GO GIRLS!!!
