Meet our Mentor Advisor

Gayle Murdock is the new Advisor Mentor for New Mexico FCCLA. A native New Mexican, who went on to attend Texas Tech University. She taught FCS in Friona, Texas for 39 years before retiring. She returned to the FCS classroom for a year and a half in Shallowater, Texas before moving to Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

Gayle's affiliation with FCCLA, previously Future Homemakers of America, began as an active member of the Artesia High School FHA. She went on to serve as an advisor for 41 years. During the years, she served as an advisor to over a dozen area, regional and state officers. She served as advisor to many STAR events that qualified for state and national competition. She served as the advisor to two knowledge bowl teams and two teams that represented FCCLA at the National LifeSmarts competition. She was also advisor of a winning National Families First Project. Most recently she was named to the Texas FCCLA 75th Anniversary Hall of Fame.

National News

Skills Demonstration Events Deadline - Monday, October 26

Skills Demonstration Events is a great opportunity to introduce your members to competitive events in FCCLA. These competitions are simpler than STAR Events and introduce students to new skills. You must be registered for the Virtual Leadership Experience (VLE), in order to register students to compete in the Skills Demonstration Events. To attend the VLE is $150.00 per chapter and to participate in the Skills Demonstration Events is $10.00 per student. The deadline to register for Skills Demonstration Events is this coming Monday, October 26.

Chapter Affiliation Virtual Town Hall

With the November 1 affiliation deadline quickly approaching, National FCCLA’s Membership Team will be hosting a series of virtual town hall meetings to answer affiliation questions,. During this time, the Membership Team can walk you through and assist with any roadblocks you may have encountered when trying to affiliate for the 2020-2021 affiliation year. In addition, they will be covering how to incorporate FCCLA into the classroom. The town halls are limited to 300 participants per session, so please register below for the time of your choosing.
