April 28th Updates
Hello North Crawford Middle and High School Parents,
Our staff is certainly missing our students and we are hoping that everyone is navigating the new challenges well and staying healthy both physically and mentally. Again our number one priority through all of this is the well being of our families in our community and we want to support that in any way we can and encourage students to do the best they can during a very challenging end of the school year. I would like to commend our families for partnering with our teachers and providing support and encouragement in what is certainly a stressful time in all of our lives. Again I want to reiterate the fact that if you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out to myself or staff so we can address any questions or concerns that you have. Stay strong North Crawford families, we will get through this challenge together.
It is important that students are doing all they can to stay caught up so they don't fall behind academically and don't miss out on any foundational information that they will need to understand future concepts in their classes. We have a little over a month of classes left and if students haven't done much up to this point it is important that they start engaging in the process. Please encourage your son or daughter to participate in any live classrooms that teachers are hosting. This is an opportunity for students to ask questions directly, to hear instructions and explanations and to have some interaction with classmates and their teachers. This is a unique and difficult time for all of us but it is important that students are participating and interacting with teachers and their peers on a regular basis.
There are numerous updates that I want everyone to be aware of and I will list them all in a bulleted list below. There is a survey for senior parents in one of the sections in regards to graduation and it would be helpful in planning if you could respond to that survey. There is also a technology and virtual education survey for all families just to give us an idea how things are going and what we can do to improve the experience in the last month.
ALL MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND FAMILIES
*This has been a unique time in human history as we all are dealing with unprecedented challenges throughout the world. I wanted to get a little feedback from families to see how we can improve and also to make sure that you are receiving the support and resources that you need. If you could take a moment to take this survey I would appreciate it. SURVEY
* Reminder that this Friday is a professional development day for staff so there will be no new instruction on Friday but students should use this time to work on any work they haven't completed up to this point.
* Please remember to reach out to teachers with questions or clarifications that you need when those concerns arise. Teachers are here to help and want to see your sons and daughters succeed.
* If you are having technical difficulties please reach out to your children's teacher for clarification first. For google password resets or technology concerns please contact Donna Starkey, dstarkey@ncrawford.k12.wi.us, or 608-735-7225 during office hours and leave your contact information.
* Cathryn Poshepny is our School Psychologist and is available for Middle and High School students during Ms. Colsch's maternity leave. If your child typically speaks with Ms. Colsch or is having a particularly tough time during all of this they should reach out to Mrs. Poshepny or myself so we can help them navigate their concerns. Her contact information is listed below.

MIDDLE SCHOOL UPDATES
* From this point on middle school students will have a choice board for their exploratory classes. Within that choice board they should choose 3 activities a week to complete. Their exploratory rotation is now over and they are still able to complete any work for that class up to the end of the school year. All new work will be done through the choice board and students can choose any 3 activities a week that they see fit.
* Our 8th grade promotion will be a live virtual event that we will do during the last week of school. We will provide you with a link and information in the near future and we hope that the families of our 8th grade students moving in to high school will be in attendance.
HIGH SCHOOL UPDATES
* Prom is postponed indefinitely at this point. We are in discussions about whether or not to combine Prom and Homecoming, find an alternative date when we are able to be back in the school or cancel it for this year. We will be reaching out to juniors in the near future for what their thoughts are about this.
* Scholarship night will be either a live virtual event or a recorded video to celebrate the accomplishments of our senior students. More information will be coming in the upcoming weeks about specifics and links to this event.
* Graduation will not be happening on Saturday, May 30th as planned. With the school grounds being closed until the end of June there is no possibility of anything happening at the school until July at the very earliest. What our limitations will be at that time are still unknown and we will communicate any new information that we receive about this when it is available. I have included a survey for parents and guardians of seniors in this sentence, please click on the link to fill out the survey. I also sent a survey to all senior students last week, if they haven't filled out that survey yet please encourage them to do so.
Please know that we are here to help in any way we can and your partnership during this challenge has been greatly appreciated. The number of cases in our county have been incredibly low because of some of the measures that have been put into place. Continue to practice social distancing, safety guidelines and other measures which will continue to keep our numbers low and maintain the health of our citizens. We appreciate our students and families and we will continue to work together to make this experience the best it can be for all of us.
