NBHS ALL IN...LEADING LIFELONG LEARNERS
Weekly Updates
Parents/Guardians,
It was finally good to get back to a full week of school after a rough winter. Hopefully, we will make it spring with no more days out. With that being said, we are keeping our eyes on a storm brewing this weekend. We are crossing our fingers that is misses!!!
We are heading into the MAP/EOC state testing time coming up in April. We ask that you help us prepare your students for this test. As you know these tests reflect our district and the learning that takes place. We want our students to be the most prepared and ready to perform their best. We ask that you continue to push healthy eating, drinking plenty of water, and most importantly getting plenty of rest. We know that when these are happening the students learning capacity is optimal. Thanks for your help!
Prom is right around the corner as well. Please remember that your students need to follow the Dances and Club Activities expectations found on page 10 of the student handbooks. If your son or daughter is bringing an outside guest they will need to have those guest approved by the administration.
During our recent faculty meeting, our staff had some professional development over a new trend sweeping across the nation, Juuling. If you are unfamiliar with this new and harmful trend our students are facing, the videos are intended to help you better understand the impact of Juuling (e-cigs) and to provide you with some information so that you can have a conversation with your students about this new dangerous trend. We are certainly not nieve to believe students in our building are not Juuling in the restrooms and in classes. If a student is caught Juuling or with an E-cig we are treating these incidences just like we do with actual cigarettes.
The administration has asked our teachers to be more diligent about allowing students to go to the restroom and being in the hallways so easily. The teachers are being asked to follow the following protocol:
1) No more than one student should be out of your room at a time. Unless they are being called to the office.
2) They must have their planner on them to go to the restroom OR if they do not they need the pass that you were given by me at the beginning of the year.
3) They need to sign-out on the sign out sheet each time.
4) When a student is consistently asking in your class multiple times a week to go to the restroom take the time to let their parents know of your concern.
5) Make your students ask you more than once. If they really have to go, then they will ask you again. When a student asks you to use the restroom, tell them to do something like finish their worksheet, give me ten minutes or read the next chapter in the book. Obviously, if its an emergency please let them go, but we have to eliminate the ones that aren't.
We ask that you take the time to talk to your students about this. We appreciate your support. If you have any questions please let us know via email or phone.
