Fox Hollow Elementary Monthly Newsletter

A Message From Mrs. Cherry

It is unbelievable that we are already in the last month of school! May is PACKED with field trips, celebrations, and learning. Make sure to check our May calendar below.

I am excited to announce that we have added teachers to grades K, 2, and 4! Fox Hollow will have 3 teachers in every grade (except 5th) next year. Melissa Rhodes will be joining the Kindergarten team. Alyssa Gallegos will be joining our 1st grade team. Liz Lords will move to 4th grade.

As the weather is getting warmer, please remember appropriate school clothes. Shorts and skirts need to reach mid thigh. No crop top shirts or clothes that expose students' under garments are allowed. We want students to be able to participate fully and appropriately in all activities.

D91 is adopting a new K - 8 Math Curriculum. Click here for more information.

Parents will be mailed the final report card, state testing results, and next year's class placement in June.

Parent Safety Survey

A huge THANK YOU to all the parents who filled out our safety survey! We are looking at the results now with our Leadership Team. We will be sharing the results in the August Newsletter along with changes we are making based on the feedback received. We appreciate all the thoughtful responses! As always, if you ever have any safety suggestions, please call our school immediately.

Immediate action based on feedback - PTO will be working with the City of Idaho Falls to see if we can get a street crossing light (like the one by the hospital) at Genevieve and Ironwood.

Kindergarten Registration for the 2022-2023 school year has begun. Click here to register now.

Children need to be 5 years old by September 1, 2022 to register for Kindergarten. We are so excited to now offer all day Kindergarten for all our students beginning this fall.

D91 Attendance Policy

School Attendance is vital to the success of a student. The District 91 School Board approved a new policy in December that supports the importance of regular school attendance. After 5 days of absences, the teacher or principal will reach out to parents/guardians to discuss attendance. Students WILL NEVER be referred to truancy without a school meeting with parent, student, teacher and principal to brainstorm ways attendance can be improved. We are here to provide the best possible education for your child and in order to do that, they need to be at school. We are willing to help support families in any way we can to make this happen.

Fox Hollow is a Title 1 School. Click the links below to learn more about what that means

PTO News

The next PTO meeting will be at Fox Hollow. Everyone is welcome!

There are no Scheduled Parent / Teacher Conferences this year. However, we are committed to ongoing and consistent communication between parents and teachers.

Dear Fox Hollow Families,

It is our goal to have open and ongoing communication with families to provide all students with a positive and productive learning experience.

If your student attends Fox Hollow, you can be assured that . . .

  • Faculty will communicate student successes and concerns in a consistent, timely, and culturally sensitive manner.

  • School information will be communicated via our school website and newsletter in both English and Spanish.

  • Classroom information will be communicated via newsletters, email, or phone.

  • Midterm grades and state or district assessments will be shared every six weeks and final grades will be shared every twelve weeks.

  • Grades will be posted to Schoology in a timely manner.

  • Families will be contacted if their student has a grade of a ‘D’ or below.

Please feel free to reach out to your student’s teacher by calling the school or emailing them individually. We want your children to succeed and ongoing communication is key to meeting this goal.

Thank you,

Fox Hollow Faculty and Staff

Why are there no scheduled parent - teacher conferences this year?

This question has come up a lot this year and for good reason!

Aren't parent conferences important?

Why wouldn't a district want to have conferences?

The reason for no scheduled parent conferences is because we believe communicating with families should not just happen on 2 scheduled days during the school year. We believe it should be happening much much more frequently. Ways in which teachers and parents can communicate has evolved dramatically in recent years. Gone are the days where parents and teachers only visit about students during scheduled times. We are committed to frequent and predictable communication using all available technology. If you would like to speak with your child's teacher - call our school or email them to set up an appointment. If you do not know their email, call our school and we will be happy to help.
