Dress Code Update
From Ms. Bass
Thanks to those who have started DRA testing! We know it’s a lot more than simply reading with students, so your time and effort to get ready for testing is much appreciated - as is your time spent scoring protocols accurately and thoughtfully!
First and Second grade teachers - I will be getting your locations set and will notify you about your testing location soon. Testing begins September 9th!
We are still waiting for the DRA rollover to occur. Some things had to be in place for the new rosters to be assigned. That will take place early next week. Everyone will be responsible for inputting their own results and I will be getting with you early next week to show you that process. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or need assistance with anything!
MOTIVATORS COMING UP...
If you are unable to do it with your class, please make sure one of us or intervention knows they need to ring it so that we can make a big deal about it!
If you are watching a student ring the bell (whether that's classroom teachers, intervention, etc..), please take a picture or video and send it to Akida. Akida will be doing a video of ALL students who got to ring the bell and we will post it weekly on facebook (or when we have enough to make a video). Akida's number is 281-605-9340
*AR GOALS:
Class: Each 6 weeks we will pull AR reports. The class with the most points from each grade level will win a TCBY party! The class will also be featured on the AR board.
Individual: The student with the highest level of points AND accuracy on comprehension will win a sweet treat and a book! The student will also be featured on the AR board.
Millionaire club: Students that read 1,000,000 words will get a VERY special award and prize. This is a long term goal that is most likely only attainable to our 3rd grade students over time. This word count will roll over from 1st, 2nd to 3rd so they have all 3 years to try to get it.
Hallway Work
Remember, what is in the hallway is a representation of our instruction!
Grade level and author's spotlight bulletin board schedule
PE Update
If at all possible, please allow your students to go to the restroom before coming to the music room. With some classes, this is really becoming a problem. I appreciate your help with this so much!

From Leslie Dowdle:
Starting this year the At-Risk Indicators have a few changes & as I gather the information for the report, I will need your help with one of the new changes that I report on for our school.
New at-risk indicator criteria this school year: Students who have been incarcerated or have a parent or guardian who has been incarcerated, within the lifetime of the student, in a penal institution as defined by Section 1.07, Penal Code.
**Let me know of any students that meet this criteria**
All “504 Accommodations Receipt of Confirmation” papers have been turned back into me! Woohoo!
From Traci Fountain:
I have completed updating the health history lists, except for those who have not completed online registration. If you have any questions about your students let me know.
(NOTE)I am not planning on reprinting lists, to conserve paper/ink. You should be able to view information in Skyward.

Supports in the R&R room are in full swing! Students served by 504 or Special Education are eligible to receive services through the R&R program. Below is a link the our R&R program website. The website has resources for teachers, as well as the referral process.
Some common accommodations for students served through the R&R program include various visual aids. Below are Youtube videos to help you understand the “why” and how to implement the accommodations within the classroom. R&R staff can help you create these tools! EAGLE BUCK MENU
(I'm not sure why there is a second blank page..I could not get it to come off)
Take time to show your students what they can earn!
Strategy of the week!
When Building stamina for Daily 5: When things are not meeting your expectations, call them back to the carpet and model what you expect and let them try again. Set a timer and set a goal for time. They need to be inconvenienced, called back and have to try again to break bad habits. If you are just correcting them and not having them restart, they will not break bad habits and they will get used to you doing it. It will become the norm.
If anyone needs help with stamina building, please let me know!!! Even though you are starting groups next week, you can still build stamina. If you want to know more, ask and I'll help explain!
Remember, we are still in the training stages of school! If something isn't going well, take time NOW to train and practice your expectations!
