News from the Principal
This time of year, things just seem to really pick up. Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner.
We would like to invite you to eat Thanksgiving lunch with your child this year. Kindergarten parents are invited on November 13th and 1st and 2nd grade parents are invited to come on November 14th. Tickets are $4 per plate and you must pre-register for this event. Please locate the link on our webpage or Facebook page to register. Each person coming must register separately so that we get an accurate account for food preparation.
Our music teacher, Vickie Alexander, is ready to put on our first semester performances. Our second grade students will perform a patriotic program on Friday, November 9th. If you know a veteran or current military member, we would love for them to come. The performances are at 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.
Our kindergarten students will perform on Friday, November 16th at 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend the second grade and kindergarten programs.
We had beautiful weather for our annual Buckaroo Race. Pledges are due November 27th.
PTO will also be selling turkey feathers the week of November 12th and will name a campus top turkey. Students may bring money or canned goods to pay for the feathers. The canned goods will be donated to the local food pantry.
On Sunday, November 4th, daylight savings time will end. So at 2 a.m. the time will “fall back” and you will need to change your clocks back one hour. So if you don’t plan on getting up at 2 a.m., you will just need to set your clock back one hour when you go to bed.
The second six weeks of school will end on November 2nd. On Monday, November 5, 2018, we will have a Professional Development day for our staff so there will be NO SCHOOL for the Students.

News from the Counselor
Red Ribbon Week has come and gone. We enjoyed seeing your children dress up and have fun learning. Students signed a pledge to be drug free, and they learned about the difference between being rude, being mean, and bullying. Your children came up with suggestions about how he or she could show kindness at school.
Now, we are learning about active listening. We read a story called “Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen”. Students are learning to listen with their brains, eyes, ears, heart, body, hands, and feet.
I was amused to hear the children remembered their kindness lesson. As I was teaching about active listening, I introduced the book about Howard Wigglebottom to a kindergarten class. I made a comment about the book character having “kind of a funny name”. One kindergarten student raised his hand and said, “We don’t make fun of people’s names.” Shaking his head and little index finger, he continued, “That would be unkind.”
