Fort Mill High School SIC
School Achievements
Excellence in Athletics:
This year nearly 839 of our students participated in athletics at Fort Mill High School. The school claimed nine region championships and 21 teams participated in state playoffs. Fort Mill High School also had 82 senior athletes recognized by the South Carolina High School League as scholar athletes, and 30 have committed to play a sport in college.
Excellence in Arts:
The Fort Mill High School Band won the Bands of America Regional at Wake Forest University and placed in the top 20 at BOA Grand Nationals in Indianapolis. All three concert bands earned superior ratings at state concert festival, and Wind Symphony 1 earned a superior rating at the Grand NAI Festival in Chattanooga. Fort Mill High School's performing arts club, Studio E, produced two full-scale theatrical musicals--Into The Woods and Footloose--involving more than 100 students. The Fort Mill High School Chorus was also selected to perform in the Christmas Candlelight Processional at EPCOT this past winter.
Excellence in Extracurriculars:
The Fort Mill High School television production, The Buzz, earned multiple national honors this year at the Student Television Network (STN) National Convention, including first place in Sports Commentary, Weather Reporting, and Morning Show. The Buzz also won Best Broadcast in the Southeast and a National Emmy for Best High School Broadcast.
The Fort Mill Business Leaders competed at the state level, placing first and second in the Finance Challenge and third in the Stock Market Game. The Fort Mill High School Academic Team finished 20-4 for the year with a second place finish in the regular season. The team was awarded the OEC High School Division 1 Region Championship and the members were awarded the Barry Bowl Champions at the USC-Lancaster Honors Day.
The Fort Mill High School Student Council and Equality Club raised over $8,000 for the community AllPlayTogether fundraiser to build an inclusive playground in the town of Fort Mill. In partnership with the Red Cross Club, Student Council hosted a movie night at Bob Jones Stadium, raising $3,700. All proceeds were donated to the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
About the FMHS SIC
Past SIC efforts resulted in the establishment of whole day ACT & SAT test-prep workshops at Fort Mill High School and expanding those opportunities for students actively pursuing college readiness by offering weekend workshops that do not impact students' busy academic schedules. This year, the SIC goals focused on improving the relationships that exist between Fort Mill High School and the families it serves. Members of the SIC developed a School-Home relationship survey that was distributed electronically to parents of current 11th graders. This grade was selected as they are also the participants in South Carolina's annual School Report Card surveys. The survey included several topics centered around the parent-friendly culture of the school and included a specific focus on the quality and frequency of communication with parents. Respondents were asked to rate our school from strongly disagree to strongly agree on the 10 statements listed below.

The results of this survey were shared publicly during our March meeting and presented to the administration to help guide reflection on practices to improve.

Fort Mill High School proudly recognizes Ms. Lisa Knight as the 2018-2019 Fort Mill High School Teacher of the Year and Ms. Karen Adams as the 2018-2019 Support Staff of the Year.
The Graduating Class of 2017 contained 506 students with 56% attending 4-year colleges and 29% attending 2-year colleges. The average SAT composite score for Fort Mill High School last year was 1142 (reading and math). The average ACT composite score for Fort Mill High School students was 21. These seniors collectively earned more than $15.7 million dollars in scholarship offers.
During the 2016-2017 school year, 677 Advanced Placement exams were given to 463 Fort Mill High School students with 89% scoring a 3 or better.
Fort Mill High School also boasts an on-time graduation rate of 95% and an EOC pass rate of 93.2% across all EOC courses last year.

The town of Fort Mill, South Carolina is located just south of the North Carolina state line. Nearly 12,000 people live inside the Fort Mill corporate limits with a total of nearly 50,000 people residing within the entire township. The Township of Fort Mill currently supports two high schools with a third high school opening in the fall of 2019.
About Fort Mill High School
The faculty of Fort Mill High School consists of 119 teachers, one principal, five assistant principals, six school counselors, and one media specialist.
More than 200 course selections are offered, including Advanced Placement, Honors, and College Preparatory courses.
Fort Mill High School has 48 co-curricular activities and 24 athletic teams.
