Principal's Message
Thanksgiving gatherings looked different for many of us this year. Like many families, my extended family normally celebrates holidays and milestones together with food, laughter, music, and storytelling uniting several generations. This year we may have been apart for the day, but it doesn't diminish the compassion and care we provide one another. My brother's family and I took turns visiting our widowed father, delivering food and visiting him from the driveway. My sons and I celebrated over the phone, lifting each other's spirits and planning a family gathering in healthier times. This brings me hope and inspires me to look forward to the day our students, teachers, and staff will be able to gather again in our schools.
Last week, a childhood friend of mine who is now an English professor shared that she is "trying to practice the pedagogy of grace right now. Everyone deserves generosity during a difficult time. As we enter this winter, I hope we can all have each others' backs." It's a good reminder that we are in this together and can help one another by being generous with grace, unsparing with kindness, and big-hearted with the help we provide one another in words and deeds. My challenge to all Dragons this week is to spread grace, kindness, and service to others.
Warmly,
Jill O'Neill

You can support ISB's Art Program by donating to a BEF Matching Grant: Altered Books, Altered Mindsets (see the project and donate here) or by sponsoring an art kit through the Online Payment System accessed through ParentVUE. This fall in an effort to provide all art students equitable access to high quality projects, art kits were provided to all middle school art students, as well as high school artists in Art I or IB Art Year 1. Your support of ISB student artists is appreciated!

Math Tutoring
Need help in math? Here are two possible resources:

Monday-Thursday from 5-6 pm, Western Oregon University's Math Education students are staffing a daily math homework help session for students in Grades 4-12. Each session will have at least two tutors available and on Tuesdays a Spanish-speaking tutor will be available. All sessions are recorded to protect both WOU and 4-12 grade students. WOU expects that all students are supervised by an adult during the tutoring sessions. Questions? Contact WOU's Dr. Rachel Harrington at harringtonr@wou.edu or 503-838-8831.
