A Note from the Principal
Wow! What an amazing few weeks we have had here at Surfside. We've celebrated our amazing art and science students, completed our spring Book Fair, ran in the Color Run and played games at Family Game Night. Our students got to see performances by our Chorus and Orchestra students. It has been amazing few weeks and we are thrilled to see our families back on campus.
In the coming weeks, we do have some grade levels going on field trips. With the end of the school year, we will have celebrations and activities on campus. If you would like to be a part of these moments, please make sure that you put in your paperwork to become a registered volunteer. The application fee has been waived for this school year so please take advantage of that.
Our final Texas Roadhouse fundraiser will be on Thursday, April 7. There is a place on the order form to put your child's name. The student who has the most orders under their name will win lunch with Mrs. Erenstoft and Mrs. Seibert. Texas Roadhouse will also be doing giveaways and prizes to kids who participate. Please come out to support Surfside on Thursday, April 7.
We are still in need of a clinic nurse and a bookkeeper. If you know anyone who may be interested, please have them call the front office.
Thank you for your continued support of Surfside!
Mrs. Erenstoft
Congratulations, Eloise!
Inclement Weather Dismissal
- Anyone checking a student out at dismissal must be on the pickup list.
- You will be required to show ID when checking a student out.
- If you selected "30 Minute Hold" on your Inclement Weather Form, please plan to be in the carloop if the weather does not pass. We will send a text to notify families if the weather is not clearing up after 30 minutes.
Thank you for your patience. We appreciate your continued support!
Important Safety Reminders
Greetings, Panther Families,
When the large playground on the Surfside campus was built, the City of Satellite Beach partnered with the school to make this happen. One of the agreements was that the playground would be open in the evenings and weekends. We continue to be proud to partner with our amazing city leaders and will continue to keep our gates open. We do however need your help in keeping our campus safe for all and free of vandalism. Access on the weekends and in the evenings should be limited to the playground. We are finding individuals navigating the entire campus, climbing fences to gain access to locations that are off limits. We have observed on cameras dangerous behaviors such as climbing onto the roof and jumping off. These behaviors are unsafe and not permitted at any time. Anyone who is found to be entering areas of campus that are off limits or exhibiting unsafe behavior will be trespassed from campus by the Satellite Beach Police Department. Please encourage your students to safely navigate the playground only if visiting during non-school hours.
Thank you for support in this.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Erenstoft

Florida Standards Assessment
What can parents do to help prepare students?
Here are some strategies on how parents can help prepare their children whether they are in a tested grade level or not.
1. Prioritize attendance.
Students are assessed on their ability to show they have mastered the standards and skills the teachers have taught. However, they need to be in school and have plenty of practice and feedback in order to demonstrate this.
2. Prioritize homework.
If your child has homework be sure you look it over. Even if there is no written homework, students should read for 20 minutes each night. Make time for reading and ask questions about their book. Listen to your child read or share a book with them. In addition, Students in primary grades can practice learning addition and subtraction facts and in the intermediate grades they should know their multiplication facts with automaticity.
As FSA gets closer, talk about testing, but keep it in perspective. Remind students their teacher has prepared them well, and they are ready. Students are working all year and demonstrating what they know and can do. As parents, if you stay positive and tell your child you’re proud of their effort that is what matters. If you have any questions about testing, reach out to Mrs. Seibert at 773-2818.
Arrival Reminders
The first bell rings at 8:00. At that time, classroom doors open. It is imperative that students be in class and ready to learn by 8:15. Students who are not in the classroom by 8:15 are considered tardy.
Our car loop is very busy in the mornings with students arriving to school. To make the car loop more efficient, we are asking that students are dropped off at the next gate available and not just by their grade level hallways. This will allow cars to pull up to the next gate instead of having gaps in car line. The tardy bell rings at 8:15 and students are expected to be in their classrooms when the bell rings. Please help your student by making sure that they arrive on campus with time to get to class or to acquire breakfast if needed. We appreciate your help.
