WHAT'S HAPPENING
Math: This week we began Topic 10. We learned how to add two-digit numbers. We also worked on adding a one digit number to a two digit number with regrouping. This is a challenging skill but students are doing great and working hard! We will begin subtraction next week/
Reader's Workshop: This week we began our new reading unit, focusing on reading strategies. We reviewed some of the strategies we learned earlier in the year. Ask your student about Skippy Kangaroo and Flippy Dolphin!
Writer's Workshop: This week we continued working on our nonfiction books. We used specific vocabulary to show our readers that we are experts on the topic we are writing about. We also discussed writing endings for our teaching books.
Social Studies: This week we discussed differences over time: the past and the present. We have also been reading nonfiction books about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama as part of our Significant Individuals history unit.
