Strategic Thinking: ELA Classroom
Developing and supporting DOK 3-4 Classroom Primary Grades
Research has long supported the consistent use of modeled thinking, gradual release, conferencing, and strategic thinking strategies as fundamental to student success with the new generation assessments. This 2-day professional learning session will allow you to empower your students by providing specific strategies and systems to implement:
- Strategic Thinking (DOK)
- Deliberate strategies for text-dependent questioning
- Text complexity & rigor to use with practice
- Self-questioning skills to improve lecture understanding
- Self-questioning skills for use with text-dependent questions
- Modeled thinking & gradual release models
- Feedback strategies as a reinforcement system
- Norms of Collaboration method
- Growth mindset development through conferencing
Teachers will be provided with a digital binder designed to help them create a DOK 3-4 classroom, where strategic, collaborative thinking is aligned to standards and 21st century expectations of learning. This is a perfect opportunity to learn and prepare for the upcoming 2016-17 school year. Please join us as we welcome Sandy Adams back to the area for this session!
