Are you ready for May?!?
I am sorry that I have not been in more of your classrooms the past few days (weeks?); I cannot believe how busy it's been around here. We have our "normal stuff" which is already at a breakneck pace; then throw in daycare discussions, technology purchases, screening/interviewing Admin Assistant positions, finding the right person for Enrollment Management, going through tuition assistance applications, and meeting with various stakeholders and civic clubs (went to my first Lion's Club meeting on Wednesday night). Yikes!
And now I need to apologize for complaining about how busy I am! (I don't like it when people use that excuse with me) I know you are also working just as hard as I am; I appreciate all of your efforts and love what you bring to our school every day! Make sure you continue to ask for maximum effort from your students (and yourselves) as we finish this year strong!
Norm and I are planning on interviewing Admin Assistant candidates next week, with the hope of having someone hired by May 5. Enrollment Manager interviews will take place after that, with the hope of having that person hired by May 14.
I sent a text to Vonnie, Rosemary J, Renee, and Connie today. They are at NETA. They all responded at different times, but all said they were having a great time and learning a ton of new stuff! Make sure to talk to them about NETA when they get back and consider going next April.
You can also register for a "mini-NETA" that's held right here in Norfolk. It's May 28-29 at NECC. You can register at http://sites.esu7.org/nnncsti.
Thank you to all of you who were able to get up and make it to the Mayor's Leadership Breakfast on April 16. I was impressed with the speaker and I love how he used the Team Hoyt video to illustrate what it takes (or should take) to be a dad. We've seen some of this video before, but here it is again (ignore the subtitles and have a Kleenex handy):
Our Lost and Found box is getting very full again. Does anyone know where those stuffed animals came from? If you can today (on way in from recess?) have your class stop and look for anything that's theirs. I also see a laundry basket that's marked Kindergarten. Lots of lunchboxes and jackets. We plan on putting the stuff out on tables by the end of next week, but let's see if we can get rid of some stuff before then....
There's been some confusion about events after the next two school masses; make sure to note what will happen in the next couple of weeks....
