Geothermal Energy
Easy to understand for kids
Renewable Resources
A renewable resource is a energy source that will never run out , e.g. solar, wind and geothermal. It is a never ending supply of energy .These resources are generated from natural resources and replenishes itself.
What is it? How does it work
Geothermal energy is a renewable resource, because lava will never not be in the middle of the earth. Geothermal energy's heat comes from magma and is brought up by pipes. The pipes go underground to a geothermal power plant. Geothermal energy can heat or cool a house. A geothermal power plant can be found near hot springs and gyser's . Sometimes if there is a crack or pool of water magmas heat could form a hot spring or shoot out like a gyser.
Advantages
Geothermal energy is a renewable resourse so it will never run out. Underground there is a huge amount lava so geothermal energy has a lot of fuel that makes it very efficient. Using geothermal energy is good for the environment it is considerd the #1 most green energy source. One of the reasons why is because it is generated from natural resources.
Disadvantages
To have geothermal energy in your house you need to live in a place with hot rocks /hot ground. When you dig into the ground you have to be careful of pipes and wires because if you hit a electricity pipe it could make a power shortage or even sparks. Another reason is it cost a lot of money to get a geothermal setup in your home.
