Counselor Corner
We’re In This Together
We’re here for you!
In keeping with the Orenda philosophy, Gateway College Prep Counseling Department will be providing a newsletter with information and ideas to support all of us as we each do our part to stay at home and stay healthy.
We will continue to strive to provide a supportive environment for all students which includes access to Gateway College Prep’s two social/emotional counselors. Ms. Liz and Ms. Kelly will have phone contact hours Monday through Friday to answer questions from parents and students who might have concerns. Please see below for our phone contact hours. Parents and students can also contact the counselors through their Gateway email.

Life Interrupted
At this time, we are dealing with uncertainty; how will we all cope with our life being so quickly turned upside down? As the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence stated: “This is not a snow day. It’s not a holiday break, it’s a crisis.”
What can each of us do to support ourselves, our children and our students in getting through these difficult times? COVID-19 will leave a footprint on our hearts and minds, even our youngest generation, who are not yet old enough to realize it. It is scary but it is not hopeless. How we respond, socially and emotionally will determine how we manage the roller coaster that we all will experience over the coming days and months. In each newsletter, we will provide some tools and resources that will support us in a variety of ways.
