In The Laidlaw Loop
Family Update- January 25, 2024
This week was a wild one! We were jam packed with learning AND fun. Our students have been hard at work with assessments this week. Across the school, students completed their winter iReady diagnostic screenings, taking their MAP tests (2nd-5th), and completing F & P assessments.
In addition to all of that testing fun, I got to spend time in 1st grade classrooms to see some math games in action as well as help our 1V students with a fun nonfiction/fiction literacy sort! Finally, I was thoroughly impressed with the essays our 5th grade students are currently writing. It was a pleasure seeing their creativity shine through when I visited Ms. Morella's room this week.
On Tuesday evening, 42 of our Laidlaw students impressed visitors with their participation at the Laidlaw Learning Fair! From urban chickens, to the history of Stanley cups, to monarch butterflies (and so much more!), I, myself, left feeling smarter! Congratulations to all of our Laidlaw participants.
Don't worry though: we aren't all work and no play at Laidlaw! Today's Yoga With The Principal Part 2 was a BLAST (truly, how lucky am I?!) and our FUN LUNCH today capped the excitement off.
And just like that... we are almost to February!
Happy Friday,
Renee

All Abilities Fair 2024
Laidlaw will be holding it's 3rd annual All Abilities Fair on Friday, February 9 and need volunteers to help make that happen. They are looking for parents to help lead morning or afternoon stations. The morning sessions will be from 8:45AM – 11:30AM, while the afternoon ones will be from 12:45PM – 3:15PM. Each class in grades 1st through 5th will be given a 30-minute time slot to attend the fair and participate in the various stations. The tentative schedule is for grades 1 – 3 to attend in the morning and grades 4-5 after lunch. Schedules are still being created though so that is subject to change.
We are looking forward to another successful fair and helping our Laidlaw leopards learn even more about understanding differences and embracing inclusion!
