ACP MIDDLE SCHOOL - February 17th

*DEDICATION*GROWTH*COMMUNITY*

Message from the Principal

Dear Knights,

I wish you a safe and fun 3-day weekend!! I hope you get to spend some quality time with your family. My apologies to all the parents for the mishap with the Parent Roundtable on Wednesday. I have rescheduled it for Monday, 02/27/2023 at 5:30pm. My apologies for the oversight. ACP Booster club is running a $2 dress down fundraiser on 02/22/2023. See below for more details. Some exciting things coming up. A group of 12 students will participate in the Hermanes Field trip on Friday, March 3, 2023 and our 8th grade students will be participating in a Field Trip on Friday, March 3, 2023 to the Chandler City Municipal Courthouse. Permission slips will be sent home with students next week.

On Tuesday, February 28th, the school counselors, Ms. Grimes and Ms. O’Donnal, along with the school social worker, Ms. Hall will present a lesson on mental health wellness to all 8th graders that emphasizes everyday strategies for creating and maintaining healthy habits that promote mental health and resiliency. An informational letter was sent home with your student as well as sent via Infinite Campus on Friday, February 17th. If you do NOT wish for your student to participate in the “Understanding Mental Wellness” lesson on Tuesday, February 28th, please notify your student’s counselor by Friday, February 24th. Ms. O’Donnal (A-L) can be reached at odonnal.margot@cusd80.com and Ms. Grimes (M-Z) at grimes.kerry@cusd80.com.

Parents, please review the following policy on Tardies:

Tardies

In an effort to stem a growing number of tardies, we are putting the following policy in place to help clarify our expectations with our students.

  • 3rd unexcused tardy and subsequent—students will be assigned community service during lunch. Duties will be performed after the students eat, and last approximately 10-15 minutes.
  • 6th unexcused tardy and subsequent—students will be assigned after school detention for the following day. It will be served from 2:50-3:20 and parents will be responsible for providing transportation.
  • 9th unexcused tardy and subsequent—students will be assigned two after school detentions for the following two days. They will be served from 2:50-3:20 and parents will be responsible for providing transportation both days. Students will complete a research task while in detention as assigned by administration.
  • 12th unexcused tardy—a parent meeting will be required to create and implement a Behavioral Improvement Plan.

Morning tardies—to streamline our morning processes, it will no longer be necessary to sign your student in between 7:50 and 7:55 when you believe your child should face the possible consequences for being late. Signing-in a late student will only be required when you wish to excuse the tardy OR the arrival is after 7:55.

If your child is going to be late to their next class for a legitimate reason, they should ask the teacher whom they are leaving for a pass to excuse the tardy. Please review these policies with your child to ensure they understand the expectations and thank you as always for your continued support.

PLEASE MAKE A TAX CREDIT DONATION TO ACP MIDDLE SCHOOL

Arizona tax law allows individual taxpayers to claim a nonrefundable tax credit for making contributions or paying fees directly to a public school in AZ for support of eligible activities and programs.

At the junior high level, the school office is unable to reallocate / redirect funds without parent and district approval. Be sure to select the specific fee for the activity where you want your payment applied. Sports fees are assigned quarterly and club fees are assigned once established.

When paying fees online (band/ orchestra, club or athletics fees, etc.), please consider making an additional contribution to our general fund in December to reach the maximum credit allowable.

http://az01001175.schoolwires.net/page/1131

Once you have paid all outstanding fees for ACP Middle School or if you have a family member that resides in AZ, please consider making an additional tax credit contribution to ACP's general fund before December 31st. If you are able to make your tax contributions prior to the end of the calendar year, your donation would be greatly appreciated. It will help give us a jump start on some of our essential extracurricular activities. We have set a goal to collect approximately $50,000.00 this school year and hope that you will be willing to help us meet our goal. Thank you for supporting your child and ACP Middle School!

Tax Credit Basics…

A tax credit donation is a full refund, not a deduction. Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or school district. To participate or learn more, follow the link listed below to donate online or you can complete the enclosed form and submit your contribution at your convenience.

http://www.cusd80.com/taxcredit

Arizona Law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per year if filing status is “Married, filing Joint Return;” $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is “Single of Head of Household;” and $200 per calendar year if filing status is “Married filing separate returns.” These contributions fund extracurricular activities in public schools and greatly impact our school community and our students.
