Chance
The Theme of Chance in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet
Out of Our Control
Shakespeare's famous play, Romeo and Juliet, makes clear to us that there are elements in our lives that we cannot control. Our decisions may be wise or foolish, but sometimes the outcomes will not be influenced by those decisions but by forces outside ourselves. We do not always control our destinies. Sometimes we are at the mercy of chance. Sometimes our fortunes are a random game of roulette. And sometimes we lose tragically.
